https://lnkd.in/eqU54k3G CHALLENGES FOR THE C SUITE Superb analysis of the pressures of our times and the difficulties that CEOs and other executives encounter on the change and rebuild agenda. Working with senior Boards over the last several years I have observed and am observing all of the key points outlined in this article - the real question is what culture, training and advisory handholding support can be introduced ( and which individuals will be big and brave enough to recognise a need for ) to enable these major changes to be managed positively rather than dragging CEOs , executives and whole organizations along in the tail wind.

“It can get lonely at the top” We have been seeing this for years now in our coaching conversations, leadership assessments and now our latest survey. Why? 📍CEOs are not receiving meaningful FEEDBACK from their C-suite, employees, or direct reports. 📍There is a lack of TRUST and open communication, which hinders the flow of information, and transparent sharing of insights. Gaps are never addressed. There is often a huge DISCONNECT among Executives - which feeds the lack of trust in return. 📍This issue is particularly challenging for underrepresented CEOs or those who have often been among the few in the room, adding an extra layer of complexity re inclusion and equity. Lastly, I often say this: it is about heart ❤️ , head 👥 and hand 👋🏼; when that alignment is missing, imposter syndrome takes over.

In my work in CEO development, when they truly open up, and vulnerability is something they’re comfortable enough to step into, trust is possible. When trust is present, findings like what KF uncovered are commonplace. Understanding the thing causing interference is part of the root cause analysis, but it gets more complicated when it comes to mapping out a way forward because fit, readinesss, and actual potential for the CEO role are important factors to get right… #ceodevelopment #successionplanning #organizationalsuccess
