Check it out – it's the Vellum team ridin' at our 2nd offsite! We're a remote-first company and all got together Tuesday - Saturday last week. Here's what we did and my thoughts ⏬ WHAT WE DID - Arrive to Chicago Tuesday afternoon, offsite kick-off - Work on fun / off-roadmap items during the day, socialize at night - Vellum Olympics on Friday morning, organized by Pei 🤖 Li - Park hang in Chicago in Nico Finelli's neighborhood MY THOUGHTS 1. Off-roadmap items allows the team to bring their best ideas forward. Engineering prototyped an insane number features in offsite, ranging from improvements to paper-cuts in our current UX, to new features that provide incremental value to customers, and also some features that help with acquiring new customers. Non-engineers built demo datasets and really cool agents. Stay tuned for a stacked change-log this month & a fun agent-related article from Anita Kirkovska. Ideas coming from across the organization are a competitive advantage we must harness. 2. People best express their creativity when they feel like they BELONG to a group Fostering an environment where people can connect on a personal level & share motivations and insecurities is a key part of building trust. We all left with the warm fuzzies and after spending time with this group. Vellum Olympics & the family dinner were good events for team bonding. Now we're looking for ways to reproduce these warm fuzzies in a remote setting. 3. I am part of the design systems team, where we work on creating a world-class design system, and develop the best solutions for the new Nordic Marketplace platform where I represent Tori and Oikotie. I focus on improving the design system, adapting new solutions for brands, creating concepts, testing, and implementing them along with my teammates. Hey everyone! We're super excited to announce that we're ready to unveil the value we’ve created with Pory for Airtable, all wrapped nicely in a 🎀. It's practically a platform for cheating #airtable. 🔓 Your users won’t need to know or use Airtable. 💰 You won’t need to purchase extra seats for them. But jokes aside, Pory addresses the challenges businesses encounter in securely sharing information with their end users. Both Luannie Dang and I are incredibly humbled to have built a platform that has empowered over 30,000 operators, creators, and founders to develop apps without writing a single line of code. Even though it's not 300,000 or 3,000,000 users, we’re still immensely proud to have accomplished all this with just the two of us, against all odds. It's almost unbelievable how we've managed to hold down the fort for this long, officially making it the longest-held job in our decade-long career! Naturally, product development took the front seat, while other roles like marketing enjoyed the luxury of sitting back, often asking like that annoying child, “Are we there yet?” Well, thanks for asking, “Marketing”, because we have indeed arrived, and now it's your turn to take the wheel! It's time to let businesses around the world know how they can leverage Pory for collecting, automating, and sharing information with their customers, networks, and communities. But “Marketing” has no experience in driving and it needs as much help as possible. Week 35 in review It’s been an eventful week at Heartspace 🚀, with improvements to the platform and many interesting meetings! Wednesday saw issues with the trains 🚂, and when Nirvana had a doctor’s appointment, I decided to drive her 🚗. We do not even own a car so I got one of those car-sharing ones you book with an app. A great thing by the way since owning a car in the city mostly becomes a hassle these days and sharing is better for the environment. On my way to town, I ended up in a tunnel (the wrong one) and had to go back through heavy traffic 🚦. Afterward, when arriving at Norrsken, the offices where Heartspace.AI is, there was no parking spot to be found 🅿️. After circulating for way too long with increasing levels of frustration and gratitude for not having to deal with daily parking issues, Nirvana suggested she would come into the city and take the car back to its place… Fortunately, we’ve had some fun too! One of our clients has been published in 13 different outlets, both on paper and online 📰, with one single op-ed. We’re very pleased! Through this single activity, they’ve reached almost 300 thousand readers 👀, and the ad value is at least 220 thousand SEK 💰. And we’re still waiting for more… Amongst this exciting news, we’re meeting great candidates for our tech positions 💼 and are happy to see VC firms contacting Heartspace directly to explore opportunities 💡. Oh, I just remembered about the progress on the platform! Our team has launched many user interface improvements this week, mainly improving on our platform collaborative features 💻. Our dev Andreas has done great work here. As some of you might have seen we are recruiting an UX/UI designer to accelerate this work. Next week our new board is getting together for the first time and we are excited to soon be able to share the news of who our board members are… We are so grateful to have them onboard! In the fast-moving tech world, it can be hard for cross-functional team members to be active partners in research, but this type of collaboration can yield powerful benefits and help meet tight deadlines. In one example, our researcher had teammates "adopt" two users to advocate for, giving them direct access to analyze data from their selected users in our diary study platform, dscout. They pored over videos and survey responses, then went to bat for their users’ needs.  By the end of the week, we had a co-created set of user insights, a prioritized list of feature improvements and blue sky explorations for the future. Next up in our #MeetTheTeam series, the driving force behind the transformation of our Home Owner experience – our dynamic and dedicated Owner Team, led by Per Skovmand-Malmberg!   🔧 What does the Owner team do? “We cover a lot of different applications focused on improving the experience of our home owners. From generating new leads (potential new home owners), to our new portal where our existing home owners can manage their property (manage their calendar, bookings and extras) to notifications (Email, SMS, Push), we are working with the UK team to create a centralised one stop shop for our owners across both #web and #mobile.” 🕸️📱   😄 Funniest thing that's happened in the team? “We’ve inadvertently found ourselves having a tradition of hiring new people right around the Christmas party for some reason, which has turned out to be a great way of introducing people to the madness that can sometimes be the Owner team. If you can survive that, you can survive anything seems to be the takeaway”🎄   🏆 What are some random facts about the team? “We’re blowing our own trumpet a bit, but we have two fantastic Pétanque players in the team. We also have a real mix of people with Danish, Greek, Bulgarian, Romanian, Indian and Tunisian all in the mix.
