Quorum Cyber CEO Federico Charosky tells MSSP Alert about how much of his company's tech stack is based on Microsoft technology, and he also provides advice to partners looking to get the most out of the Microsoft Partner Program. Quorum was one of 100 MSSPs involved in Microsoft's private preview of Copilot for Security. Here's what Charosky said about that: “Our involvement in the Partner Private Preview means that we have a greater level of knowledge and understanding on the product and how to leverage its capabilities than the vast majority of partners. In turn, this enables us to help our customers to better utilize Copilot for Security and generative AI to stay ahead of AI-driven risks and threats themself.” Quorum is using AI internally to help fight AI threats against its customers. Quorum recommends that MSSPs looking to nurture a close relationship with Microsoft and its gigantic partner program (400,000 channel partners) should focus on understanding Microsoft’s Security Partner go-to-market strategy, and especially what their metrics are for partners. If the market allows, valuable lessons can be learned from the CrowdStrike incident. This isn't about bashing CrowdStrike or Microsoft or kicking someone when they're down. Instead, if the cybersecurity community can draw lessons from this event, it could lead to questioning two key areas—provided marketing pressures and corporate sales forces don't stifle these reflections. Firstly, "The biggest change will be the failure of the platformization approach of single cyber vendor consolidation." Secondly, the event could lead to a reevaluation of companies' cloud strategies. The expertise, knowledge, and experience of cybersecurity professionals regarding what is risky, what is safe, should not lag behind what is marketable or what is convenient for the user; in fact, it should take precedence. Harsh investment rounds and revenue pressures should not let the end user's preference for comfort and convenient solutions overshadow cybersecurity. We have seen the immediate impact of the CrowdStrike incident as far as we can see right now, and more will follow, but we can discuss the results of the breach this incident has opened in the cybersecurity layer in the coming year.
