Why is it that builders are going under yet the Better Living Group can withhold those external forces and still find $100k to donate to Children's Cancer Charity and support Housing All Australians to house those in need? Put simply they care. They put people before profit. They stand for something greater than the bottom line which elevates them above industry standard. This is life-centric business strategy in action that I have been talking about for sometime. The Better Living Group are a glowing standard of operating according to their company values. Values that resonate in a meaningful way with the community, that gets them more business not because of what they do but because of WHO THEY ARE. You could not buy publicity like this for your company. It is not what they are seeking yet it is what they getting for being a beacon of hope in an industry that is falling apart at the seams. This is what draws the market closer to you when you make the decision to do what is right over what is self serving. It opens the door to opportunities, partnerships, collaborations that bring in more business -not through Ai tools, sponsored ads or writing meaningless content but by SHOWING their generosity of spirit, their craftsmanship in ways their competitors would only dream of. It's about being involved in the lives of your market in WAYS THAT MATTER. You don't see them post on construction finished or standing with an award as that is not relevant in today's market. I have started to strategise: How many Km’s per day do I want to run? How many days a week & what rest days do I take? What if I get injured throughout? This is my ninth year participating in the annual Great Cycle Challenge to raise money to fight children’s cancer. Cancer in children is different from cancers that develop later in adults. As a result, the side effects of typical adult cancer treatments cause more harm to children because children’s bodies are still growing and developing. One in five children diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. will not survive, and for those who do, by the age of fifty, more than 99% of survivors had a chronic health problem, and 96% have experienced a severe or life-threatening condition. Unfortunately, funding for childhood cancer is less than 10 percent of the dollars the federal government makes available for research into adult cancers which is why raising funds is so important. One in four families lose more than 40% of their annual household income because of childhood cancer treatment-related work disruption, while one in three families face other work disruptions such as having to quit or change jobs. After the wild ride that was Breast Cancer Awareness Month, half term with two children and a bustling Challenger’s Reception at Future Dreams House, the dust is finally starting to settle leaving space to think about the year ahead. Our team at Future Dreams Breast Cancer Charity have been lucky enough to work with some amazing people this year like Elisa Fosterman – someone with a purpose, a tangible reason to train and break those barriers, as well as a determination that saw her through from sign up all the way to the Finish Line. She and all the other challengers this season have inspired me to aim bigger for next year and build even larger teams of motivated and dedicated people who want to do something positive with their body, honour a friend or simply pay it forward in 2025. Do you want in? We know there are plenty of amazing charities out there you could choose to support and your time is precious, so perhaps knowing more about what your fundraising will go towards could sway you to don your running shoes or hiking boots. We run England’s only dedicated breast cancer support centre and fund vital and innovative research into secondary breast cancer. We are proud to be backing two ground-breaking breast cancer research projects; Professor Charles Swanton’s work studying metastatic triple negative breast cancer at the world-famous Francis Crick Institute and a PhD student at University of Cambridge to understand if AI screening could identify women who are more at risk of developing breast cancer.
