For some #fleetusecases, the economics of #batteryelectricvehicles stack up well to the economics of #internalcombustionenginevehicles. #Lastmiledelivery and #drayage #fleets are good examples. But there are still use cases, such as #heavydutytrucking for #longhaul, where the economics of #BEVs may not be as favorable for #fleetelectrification -- yet. https://loom.ly/5CAI1ms

Talked recently about xAI's new industrial facility that they'll be using to train Grok and focused on the fact it could require 150 MW / hour at peak capacity. But in addition to being a power hungry pig, this operation could also require 1.5 million gallons of water each and every day. Presumably the water gets recycled, but it shouldn't be lost on anyone that this new industry popped up virtually over night. Add in EV manufacturing, gigafactories, semi conductor fabs and data centers and we're faced with massively increasing demands for power and water. https://lnkd.in/gtiCJuEp

Yes yes, we have been rambling! We know... we have just gone on and on about Structural Health Monitoring for years on end now! It is, and will always be, an important part of our business, and indeed an area where we can help make a huge difference. We do however, also engage in other interesting areas, where we believe we can really add value and make a difference with our sensor technology. One of those areas is heavy vehicles. That can really be anything from construction- and agricultural machinery, over military vehicles including tanks and other off-road vehicles, to trains, mining vehicles and massive highway trucks. Is it heavy and does it have wheels or belts? if yes, it is within category as we define it. Did you know the first water meter was invented in 1825 in Britain? This groundbreaking device, known as a balance tank water meter, was designed by an inventor named Klaus. Its unique characteristics set the stage for modern water consumption measurement. In 1857, Henry Worthington brought the water meter to the U.S., presenting a design that was remarkably advanced for that era. It featured a reciprocating piston similar to those found in steam engines and had two cylinders and plungers. The device counted the number of piston strokes to measure water consumption. Despite its flaws, Worthington's invention was a crucial development in the management of utilities, paving the way for modern water regulation techniques. Imagine trying to manage water consumption without such pioneering technology! #FunFactFriday #HistoricalWaterFacts #WaterMeter
