Despite all your careful planning, you’ve ended up on the side of the road with not enough charge to reach your destination. 🚗🔋 Don’t worry, here are some tips to help you get to the next charger: ▪️ Check for Nearby Chargers: Use your EV’s navigation system or PlugShare.com to find the closest charger. Chargers are continuously being added, so one may be closer than you think. ▪️ Ask for Help: If you're close to a business, stop and ask if you can plug into a (120v) outlet for a while. ▪️ Roadside Assistance: If you have a service like CAA or your new vehicle’s roadside assistance plan, ask if they can provide roadside charging. ▪️ Tow to a Charger: If all else fails, get your EV carried on a flatbed tow-truck to the nearest charger. Pro tip: Always keep your mobile charger in the EV, just in case! Tag a friend who could use these tips. https://evsociety.ca #EVSociety #DriveElectric #EVTips #StayCharged #EVLife #RoadsideAssistance #GreenMobility #ElectricVehicles

Does colder weather affect electric vehicles? Indeed! Lower temperatures significantly affect electric vehicles. When the mercury drops, EVs might demand more energy to start due to the time taken to warm up. To maintain efficiency, it's wise to avoid letting your EV fall below a 20% charge during cold weather. For business owners employing EVs, the advice is clear: Consider parking EVs indoors during winter to counter the effects of cold weather. Plan ahead and ensure a robust EV charging infrastructure to tackle these temperature-related challenges. Have more questions? The news cycle this week has sparked a lot of talk about how EV chargers handle the cold. Unfortunately, these sensationalized reports are turning people away from joining the EV revolution. Let's prove the resilience of EVs together by posting photos of your EVs conquering the cold #FLOinthesnow and #chargethewinter and showing the world that EVs are built for every season! Contrary to the hype, EVs thrive in extreme cold. For almost 15 years, FLO has been building chargers with reliability and durability front of mind, designing them to withstand extreme weather events and the freezing temperatures residents encounter in places like Alaska and the Northwest Territories. Born in the harsh Canadian winter, we know what it takes! FLOEVCharging even boasts some of the most cold-resistant chargers on the market, with a leading certification to -40°C. No matter where you are, rest assured that EVs can handle extreme cold like a breeze. Still not convinced? When looking at data from our friends in Norway, we see reports that Electric vehicles are reporting failure at a lower rate than gas-powered cars in the extreme cold, according to roadside assistance. Electrek did a nice article about it: https://lnkd.in/exN3Wbff Don’t forget to share your own winter charging moments with us by posting photos of your EVs conquering the cold. It’s a good job we don’t all want the same. Whilst it may be easier in some quarters if we all wanted the same, or even could all be forced to do the same, the human race doesn’t operate like that. Electric cars are great for some people, some uses, but the response to a recent car launch of a small petrol hybrid has proved “we don’t all want the same” - which is no great surprise! I am regularly asked about EVs and I really believe that they are great for some people, but even in the 10 years to 2035, I can’t see EV’s being the one and only solution. We are all individuals, some would always buy diesels, some always petrol, some wanted one brand, some another, some want fish and chips, some want a burger. We all want different things, have different lives, uses, likes and dislikes, and, unless we are given no choice and workable infrastructure, I guess EVs won’t be desired or practical for all of us. At some point, maybe in the run up to an election in a few years’ time, the range of options that provide cleaner, greener transport will expand, or will we all be forced, rather than choose to go Electric?
