It was an honor to host the first Australian remanufacturing industry roundtable in Melbourne organized by WorkbenchX. Darren Caldwell from Partswise proposed an idea to bring the industry together to share learnings and collaborate to solve some of the industry's challenges. With a week's notice, Colin Doherty from Original Engines Co. and Sam T from Innovative Mechatronics Group were happy to jump on board to discuss the challenges faced by automotive remanufacturers in Australia. Cameron Kaufman from Coreo kicked off with an intriguing session on the #circular economy, followed by discussions on 1. How to attract and retain talent to support this critical industrial sector. 2. How to engage the local and national government bodies, including funding organizations like the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation, to build manufacturing/remanufacturing capabilities in Australia. 3. How to influence large industry players and academia to support technology development and commercialization to support the evolving needs of the remanufacturing industry in Australia. 4. Collaborate on core collection and logistics to reduce the cost of operations to scale reman in Australia. A detailed report is in the works and will be published in the next few weeks.
