Christoph Frenkel joined today's panel at #HM2024 talking about #ThEEN #innovation #cluster's active role in the #energy #transition and shared his learnings from decarbonization projects with local industries. Our deputy managing director summarized his experiences regarding the transition of the energy supply within industrial companies and industrial parks in three key messages: 1️⃣ Holisitic approach It is essential to regard all energy sectors, sources and transformers (eg. heat pump, green hydrogen) to choose an optimum. Though more complex, the holistic approach saves money in the end. 2️⃣ Cross-company approach Why not ask your neighbour? There are synergy potentials worth realizing within an industrial park (eg. waste heat). To follow this cross-company approach it takes synchronization of different objectives of companies in an iterative process leading to an even more efficient transition plan. 3️⃣ Interdisciplinary approach Walk the walk and talk the talk - but leave your bubble! It is a huge success factor to involve industry, public administration, municipalities and other relevant stakeholders in energy transition projects. Gaining insights in different perspectives and understanding different players and their roles can be a game changer. We all speak different languages and have our limitations, together we can find sustainable solutions! Curious who we are? HARTING connects people, machines and cars. We are enabling an electrified future - sustainable and smart! Pushing Performance for new standards in connectivity!
Ready to bring sustainable ideas to life? 🌱💡 The ZVEI e. V. is presenting this year's #eSummit on May 16 and 17. This is the most important congress of the electrical and digital industry. Under the motto “The future is electric”, not only familiar faces from politics, but also representatives from business and science are expected. But why is it so essential to have speakers from all these areas for a discussion about the opportunities and current challenges facing our industry? Because it takes a united effort to realistically implement #electrifyingideas. 🤝 For example, to realize the future vision of the #AllElectricSociety — a society where all energy is generated from renewable resources and then converted into electricity — a seamless collaboration and holistic thinking across Industry, Mobility, Energy, Infrastructure and Agriculture is required. 🏭🚗⚡🏙️🚜 Whether the aim is to strengthen Europe as a business location or to think ahead in terms of global politics, an electric future must be thought through in a strategic and socially sustainable way. From trade policy and technological progress to digital work skills, there will be numerous inspiring talks and panel discussions. In addition, established companies as well as newcomers pitch their innovations and solutions that take into account the efficient use of energy and resources and are intended to benefit society. Live at Kosmos Berlin, Robert Habeck will then hand out the Electrifying-Ideas-Award. 🏅 As a member of the ZVEI Executive Board, I am keeping my fingers crossed for all participants and am eagerly awaiting the winner yet again this year. 🤞😊 It is important to create incentives of this kind to keep the conversation going on this important topic and, of course, to move from talk to action! With the support of many partners, concentrated expertise as well as years of experience in the industry, I would like to draw attention to the fact that great, sustainable ideas are not too far-fetched, but tangible! 🤜🤛 🚀 #sustainability #HARTING

EMPOCI is looking forward to welcoming Hauke Luetkehaus (University of Oldenburg) to our Sussex Energy Group seminar, giving a (hybrid) seminar talk on a key topic for accelerating net-zero transitions to e-mobility: the role of phase out policies. Join us on Wednesday October 2, 2024, 1-2pm UK time. More info: https://lnkd.in/eN4C3ZBW Register online: https://lnkd.in/g6W29c5B Preview: In recent years, there has been a growing interest among academics and practitioners in policies that aim to phase out unsustainable technologies. While there are normative calls for the introduction of such policies, and their use in real-world policymaking is increasing, their implementation remains controversial because it is less understood how they affect key actors for technological change, such as incumbents. To shed more light on this highly relevant question, we conducted a qualitative case study to analyze how the recent EU-level decision to effectively forbid new registrations of internal combustion engine vehicles as of 2035 affects incumbent car makers in their adaptation to technological change. We offer original insights into the channels through which phase-out policies affect incumbents’ adaptation and show how firm-level factors shape policy effectiveness. By highlighting that phase-out policies drive and facilitate incumbent adaptation, we propose that these policies are highly effective in accelerating transitions and are not as incumbent-unfriendly as one might assume. Instead, the policy is an effective means of overcoming multiple internal and external sources of inertia that increase the likelihood that incumbents will well survive technological change. However, great care should be taken in designing a phase-out policy and complementary policies for alternative technologies to ensure policy credibility. Seminar chair and discussants: This seminar is chaired by Karoline Rogge, PI of the ERC-funded EMPOCI project. After Hauke’s presentation, the discussion will be kicked off by short reflections offered by Paula Kivimaa (SYKE, Finland) and Florian Kern (IÖW, Germany).

🙌 We would like to thank Science|Business for presenting BATT4EU, and our strategy and ambitions for the future of the European Battery R&I community! The BATT4EU partnership was launched in 2021 to mobilise €925 million in #funding for battery R&I. Since then, the sector has undergone great changes which required an updated strategy, through the #SRIA2024, to help coordinate funding efforts and maximize their impact. The SRIA will be implemented in the first calls of Work programme 2025, which will be published in spring 2025. The Partnership is committed to increasing coordination and achieving more of the strategic actions presented in the #SRIA2024, while also increasing collaboration within the ecosystem to enhance the expected impact. BEPA's Executive Director @Wouter IJzermans explained that “We’re looking on both sides to see how we can maximise our impact and fully realise what’s in the SRIA”. I am really happy to share the first paper by my PhD student Eva Sass Lauritsen! It shows how jointly developed timeliness can help manage shared understanding in innovation with multiple clockspeeds. https://lnkd.in/e42fFeWy "Innovating for the green transition is increasingly important and energy producers and distributors play a central role, as they integrate rapidly emerging, new, and more sustainable technologies into the much slower changing energy system. However, there has been surprisingly little research on how differing temporal perspectives (or clockspeeds) impact innovation, particularly in traditionally slow sectors, such as the energy sector. This is linked to key questions in how to improve shared understanding in contexts with multiple clockspeeds. Thus, in this article, we—for the first time—examine how a shared understanding of differing clockspeeds can be developed in innovation teams in the energy sector." Thanks go out also to Eva's co-supervisor and co-author Melanie Kreye #innovation #innovationmanagement #designthinking #clockspeed #creativity #shareddecisionmaking #sharedleadership Northumbria University DTU - Technical University of Denmark University of York
