The devastation from Helene is far worse than most realize. Whole cities and towns in the Southeast have been destroyed. No food, water or communication. If you are able, help in any way you can. If not monetarily, go through your closets and see if you have any clothing, bedding, baby items, toiletries, etc., that you can spare. Look for drop off locations in your area. And don't forget the animals. Pet food and supplies are desperately needed too. Many people will go without just to make sure their pets are fed and safely secured. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 HELP NEEDED 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 EMERGENCY: LA Fires Decimate Our Home Base Just Minutes After We Evacuated Our Animals, Destroying EVERYTHING We Left Behind... We are speechless. Never before have we faced such a devastating crisis. The wildfires that tore through our #LosAngeles community have left us with nothing. The founder of our rescue, whose personal home served as the main hub of operations, lost everything in the blaze. Her home has been a place of refuge for countless animals over the years, but now, it is a pile of ash. There is NOTHING left. Even more heartbreaking, much of our foster network has suffered the same fate—entire homes burned to the ground, leaving our team and animals with NOWHERE to go. Thankfully, all the animals and humans were safely evacuated, but they left with the fur on their backs and nothing more. So, now, we have zero supplies to care for them. We are doing everything possible to keep these animals safe, but the situation is critical. We can’t keep this up for much longer without help. We urgently need your support to ensure we have the necessary supplies to care for these animals. Crates, leashes, collars, blankets, food—anything and everything is needed, and we need it fast. As April marks National Stress Awareness Month, we want to shed light on the immense challenges faced by front-line rescue workers. The theme for 2024 is #LittleByLittle, which highlights the transformative impact of consistent, small positive actions can have. Recently, we introduced you to Oriana Samuelsen, a firefighter whose journey took her from the highways of Washington State to the streets of Iraq, where she encountered the brave street dog, Big Girl, and her pack. Oriana's journey led her to WarPaws, where she continues to care for these vulnerable animals, despite the inevitable heartaches. Witnessing cruelty and neglect takes its toll, compounded by the constant financial struggles of running an animal rescue shelter. However, through awareness and support, we can make a difference. Ultimately, the work of small rescue groups and charities is about more than just saving individual dogs. It's about creating a world in which animals are valued and respected and in which their welfare is protected. We believe that by working together and supporting these organisations, we can make this vision a reality and create a better world for all animals. The devastation in CA is beyond comprehension. Most of us cannot imagine having to evacuate from such a disaster. We DO know the feeling of wanting to help and not knowing where to start.
