Doing some CPA pipeline brainstorming with Okorie Ramsey, CPA, CGMA, PMP, NACD.DC, Aiysha (AJ) Johnson, MA, IOM and Dr. Ainsley A. Reynolds, DBA, CPA the other night at the New Jersey Society of CPAs office. Some of the things we discussed: 1) It’s a collective effort to address what our profession is facing. We’ve got to think outside of the box and approach the challenges with new ideas. 2) Rather than thinking about how to get someone to sit for a test, how do we communicate that this profession is the greatest way they can make an impact in the areas they are passionate about. Show undeclared students and aspiring CPA’s that whatever it is they love to do, that #WeGotARoleForThat 3) Invest in those who may not even know what a career in accounting looks like. Share your stories and open up the door. Proud of what our firm CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen) is already doing with HS student internships, NABA and other early career awareness initiatives.

The most valuable lesson I've learned so far in my life is the importance of developing good habits, eliminating bad ones, and the value of consistency. 3. What are your top three productivity tips for a successful workday? My three productivity tips for a successful day are to schedule out my responsibilities, cut out distractions, and focus on each task individually rather than multitask. 4. As a child, what career did you want to have when you “grew up?” When I was young, I wanted to be a marine biologist because of Shark Week. 5. What is something that brings you joy? Joining the university's private equity club was one of the best decisions I made in college! As an eager freshman, I was instantly drawn to the club's electrifying atmosphere of intellectual discourse and camaraderie. What truly captivated me was the opportunity to learn from the seasoned seniors. These mentors generously shared their wisdom, guiding us through the intricate world of finance. From valuation techniques to portfolio management, they challenged us to think critically while providing invaluable feedback. But the club was more than just a learning hub; it fostered a supportive community that extended beyond the classroom. The seniors offered career guidance, shared internship experiences, and connected us with industry professionals. Their mentorship was invaluable as I navigated my own professional journey. Looking back, the private equity club equipped me with practical skills and a mindset of continuous learning. This past week, I had the pleasure of presenting my Financial Literacy Workshop to the interns at The City University of New York's Marketing & Communications Hub! It was our 5th time collaborating. Presenting to a fresh group of over 400 amazing interns was incredibly inspiring. Seeing young adults actively learning and eager to take charge of their financial futures is a powerful reminder of why I continue to offer these workshops. Teaching financial literacy to the next generation is crucial! 📊 🎓 We covered A LOT  during our session: -Money mindset -How to start saving -Essential bank accounts for college students -Creating a college-friendly budget -Understanding the impact of debt -Tips on tackling debt -Student loans -Credit 101 -Investing Not only were these topics covered in an easy-to-understand way, but there was also an interactive workbook used throughout the workshop, allowing the interns to immediately apply what they learned.
