Division Manager Mental Health | Allied Health Recruiter VIC at Gorilla Jobs

Curious about how often OT's and Speech Pathologists change roles?🧐 Based on LinkedIn reporting, the average tenure in Australia for these positions is as follows: Occupational Therapists: 1.7 years ⏰ Speech Pathologists: 1.3 years! ⏰ ⁉ Are you as surprised by these numbers as I was? What can employers do to extend tenure and avoid their clinicians changing roles? #SpeechPathology #OccupationalTherapy #JobMarket #CareerGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment

Not at the moment !!! would be interesting to see if the tenure length increases or decreases with experience levels , my gut feel is atm clinicians with less than 5 years experience are the ones moving more frequently

I’m not surprised at all. The reality is that employers have higher expectations for billing and profits, and employees have higher expectations of ideal work environments and are keen to bargain salaries and flexible working conditions… even new graduates are bargaining! When I graduated, you took what you could get; nowadays, the market is so competitive that new graduates, as well as seniors, are able to pick and choose the type of work, flexibility and pay they get. The introduction of NDIS to business owners for profitability has also contributed to worker burnout and therefore lower levels of staff retention; especially in instances where the businesses have limited understanding of human services. The worst part is, that that’s where the majority of jobs are…. with private ndis registered companies that are ‘for profit’!

Love this! Some of my clients have said having regular performance reviews can be helpful in making sure clinicians stay supported in their role and are being paid according to their level of experience. I'd love to hear what other Allied Health businesses do to help extend tenure!

SLPs and I also imagine other therapists haven’t had a pay rise in some states in a long time ie up to 23 years. Some places provide interesting opportunities for career progression and therefore more pay.
