Have you heard about our Build-A-Box events? 💛📦 In a world where youth experiencing foster care will move households, on average, seven times within two years – where children and youth have so few things they call their own, that moving from one place to another means all their belongings will fit into a single bag…imagine what it would feel like for those children to open up a big box, custom-built just for them, filled with things they’ve wished for and need. Imagine how seen they would feel. Imagine how supported their fostering family would feel. Imagine the statistic-changing ripple effect this kind of support could have. 🤯 Charlotte Angels offers individual groups and corporate partners the opportunity to come together to build Love Boxes, filled with hand-picked items for children and youth experiencing foster care. The impact of these boxes extends beyond the items inside. The hope, support, and sense of belonging that comes along with them is tremendous. We are so proud of this program and the way it radically supports children, youth, and families. 👏🏼 If you or your company would be interested in finding out more about hosting a Build-A-Box event, please email camille@charlotteangels.org. #loveboxprogram #loveboxsupport #communitysupport #charlottebusiness #charlottebusinesswomen #charlottegivesback #cltlove #fostercarecharlotte #charlottefostercare #meckdss #mecklenburgcounty #corporateteambuilding #charlotte #charlottenonprofit #buildabox

Seeing stats like this can be disheartening, until you realize that it is absolutely possible to change this reality when everyone does their part. These are our kids, America's kids, and we can all take a step TODAY to flip the script for their future. Because it's our future, too. Help more kids find families through corporate sponsorships: https://lnkd.in/en7KrGj2 #superbowl #fostercareawareness
Did you know? The Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas holds 65,000 people. Multiply this by six and you get 390,000, which falls short of accommodating the 400,000 kids in foster care today. Nationwide, there are only half the amount of homes needed to house them. One of the reasons for the shortage is that 50% of new foster parents quit within the first year, with many stating lack of community support as a reason. That's where our Foster Friendly program comes in. We help increase foster parent retention by equipping businesses, churches and entire communities to support and encourage local foster families. As a business leader, you can make a huge difference in the lives of foster families and the children they serve through: A) Corporate sponsorships Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gpG2DDsC B) Offering discounts to foster families on our free Foster Friendly App Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gasfpedz Join the movement and let's make sure these local heroes receive the community support they deserve! #fosterfriendly #nfl #superbowl Statistics source: Lifesong for Orphans

The time to positively impact your community is here. There are 20% less foster homes available in NC than there were just a few years ago. That means that children who have been removed from their homes, who are feeling confused and scared, can end up sleeping in a government offices or medical facilities because there is no home available to take them in when they most need the comfort of a foster family. UpsideDown Moments', as a local 501c3 nonprofit, focuses on delivering services tailored to children in foster care, children in need, and young adults who have previously been in foster care. We are aware that many former fosters often face many hurdles on their way to independence. Without a solid foundation, the road to adulthood can get pretty twisty and full of unexpected bumps. Our new initiative, the 'Vehicles Empowering Hope' program, aims to make a meaningful and practical impact on the lives of former foster youth by addressing one of the crucial challenges they often face - transportation. Essential to fulfilling work duties and daily needs, transportation is an important component on the road to independence. Through Phase 1 we aim to provide former foster youth in need with: Towing services (join our partnership*) to alleviate the financial burden of getting a vehicle to a service facility Repairs and maintenance of their vehicle (join our partnership*) Gift cards for gas to alleviate the financial strain associated with transportation Gift cards specifically for oil changes and other routine maintenance to keep their cars in optimal condition and reliable Bus passes or other ride-share options to offer an alternative means of transportation when needed Mandatory training sessions covering essential skills such as vehicle maintenance, budgeting, and finance, empowering these young adults to take control of their lives Pay it Forward initiative By donating towards the 'Vehicles Empowering Hope' program, you are not only contributing to the well-being of former foster youth but also becoming a catalyst for positive change in our community. Your support can be the key to unlocking a brighter future for these resilient individuals. Together, let's make a lasting impact on the road to hope and empowerment. **Is your repair shop or towing company interested in offering a discount to our recipients? Join our partnership and get your business included in our marketing material/website.** Respectfully, Becky Saunders Founder/CEO UpsideDown Moments www.upsidedownmoments.org

For young people experiencing foster care, life is anything but ordinary. Typical worries and fears – meeting a deadline for a class assignment, winning Saturday’s game against a rival, getting asked to the school dance – are eclipsed by the realities they face, beginning with the upheaval of being removed from their homes. Here's the stark reality: children who’ve experienced foster care are two times as likely as US war veterans to experience PTSD as adults. One in four young people aged 16-17 years old have attempted suicide. The toll of adverse childhood experiences is staggering, with a 60% increase in suicide risk for each additional trauma. Let that sink in for a moment. These aren't just statistics; they represent the 400,000 children and youth navigating foster care in the US. But we refuse to accept this grim reality. Our programs were built to empower children and youth to heal through the power of normalcy, consistency, and healthy relationships. Joining the Angel Alliance – our community of monthly donors – makes a tangible difference. Your investment ensures young people are matched, over and over again, with dedicated mentors who will help them thrive. Your influence and investment can transform lives. Will you join us?
