As remote and hybrid work models continue to become the norm, there has been a noticeable increase in vacant office spaces. The commercial real estate sector is now entering a phase where it is seeking new ways to repurpose these spaces, particularly in revitalizing the quieter downtown areas of major American cities. RXR has established an impressive fund to convert office spaces into residential apartments in NYC. Another approach we are seeing involves building owners and operators making significant investments to enhance their properties. These enhancements range from adding Michelin-starred restaurants to implementing cutting-edge technologies, all aimed at increasing tenant satisfaction. Defigo is actively involved in this transformation. We are collaborating with leading property developers, owners, and operators to introduce smarter and safer technologies that align with current market needs. Our mission is to simplify building access and enhance the day-to-day experience for tenants, contributing to a more adaptable and robust urban environment. What innovative strategies do you envision as key to reshaping our urban landscapes in this era of remote and hybrid work? #CRE #proptech #accesscontrol
In case you missed it, I was interviewed by 60 Minutes for a segment on the office market. While the office market has been painted with an overly broad negative brush, the office isn’t dead, it is evolving. With the rise of higher interest rates, combined with the permanent rise of hybrid work, we’re not returning to the world that once was. Instead, we need to recalibrate and capitalize on opportunities in this new post-COVID normal. https://lnkd.in/eP2turkF

Broadly speaking, focusing on the “what” and “how” is your first step to fulfilling what seemingly is a complicated business case in 2024.

Data from Ampere Analysis shows the global box office steadily climbing back to pre-pandemic levels. In 2023 estimated box office revenue reached just over $30B. While this is a 30% increase from 2022, it is still 17% lower than 2019. Global box office revenue is projected to reach $36B in 2028. #movies #boxoffice #movietheaters #goingtothemovies
