Day 3 of apprenticeships is drawing to a close. Having been in three western states in 3 days, each state more rural than urban, it is abundantly clear that Pre-Apprenticeship and Registered Apprenticeships enable a pathway to not only earn while you learn, but also to be able to learn where you. Healthcare is a common industry no matter where you live. I want to highlight the great work that Mary Lyman and her team are leading in growing their own skilled workforce as part of Mesa View in rural Mesquite Nevada. Registered Apprenticeship has played a role in upskilling those who already have some patient facing healthcare experience. With her teams mentorship, and the apprentices' previous patient facing experience, they are rapidly attaining competence in their upskilled occupations. I can't wait to see them continue to ladder up. They are setting an amazing example for other systems to follow in building career ladders that include RAP as a significant part of the pathway.

Coming to the end of Apprenticeship Week. What a great week to meet colleagues, friends in apprenticeship and hear success stories from many, many journeyworkers. Great Job!! I wanted to end with today's theme, Veterans in Apprenticeship. First, I am profoundly grateful for the selfless dedication and sacrifices of those who serve or have served in the military, defending our freedoms and ensuring the safety of our communities. Your unwavering commitment to duty is a source of inspiration for us all. Second, I wanted to highlight the amazing benefit of DoD-SkillBridge, a program offers service members the opportunity to gain civilian work experience during their last 180 days of service. The program provides apprenticeships, internships, and industry training. The program also connects service members with industry partners for real-world job experiences. Lastly, to those Veterans who are laboring as apprentices, whether that be in traditional apprenticeship occupations or in emerging industries such as healthcare, i want to say thank you for your service and keep up the good fight to journeyworker status.

Fourth day of apprenticeship week. Back in Reno meeting with the Northern Nevada Workforce Alliance. Today's topic focused on housing and support services that are needed along with occupational training. RAP's earn while you learn model, to some degree helps mitigate that challenge. Grateful for the great work of Nevadaworks and the Good Jobs Northern Nevada Grant it was able to secure, https://lnkd.in/ghfx_q5Z. Terrance J. Bowens, CPRW gave a shout out to Apprenticeship Week.
