This sad case is a result of what many people see across all organisations, in all sectors: 👉🏽 The wrong people making decisions in specialized areas they know nothing about. 👉🏽 Company 'stars' not respecting subject matter experts. 👉🏽 Subject matter experts not challenging wrong behaviour. 👉🏽 Compliance or risk professionals too scared to say 'no'. 👉🏽 Control weaknesses due to a lack of awareness and execution of operating procedures. 😡 Toxic behaviour. If you are a risk or compliance professional, learn to say no, stand your ground, and make sure you are in a team that has your back. And if they don't, know you are not alone.
