Contrary to the perception that local spots are better suited for adults, many Bloomington-Normal restaurants go out of their way to cater to families. They often have dedicated kids' menus, play areas, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes dining out with children an enjoyable experience. We've got plenty of local places that kids absolutely love. For those looking for some entertainment with their food, BloNo Pizza Co is a great option, offering a pizza buffet and a driving range for the little ones to enjoy. And when it comes to satisfying those sweet tooth cravings, Carl's Ice Cream has everyone feeling like a kid with their kid meals complete with a scoop of their soft-serve or hard ice cream - what a treat! Of course, no discussion of kid-friendly local dining would be complete without mentioning pizza. Whether it's a classic thin slice at Tobin's or a more creative “monthly fling” at Flingers, the kids are sure to be satisfied. And you'll be hard-pressed to find a menu in town that doesn't include the ever-popular chicken fingers - a perennial favorite among the younger set. So don't assume that local restaurants are off-limits for families. Many Bloomington-Normal establishments have gone to great lengths to create an environment that caters to both parents and their little ones. Embrace the opportunity to explore the local dining scene and discover the hidden gems that the whole family will love.

Seize the opportunity…. Last night was my daughter’s 8th-grade graduation. Upon learning of the graduation date, one of the school’s parents, a savvy businesswoman and restaurant owner, wasted no time in extending an invitation for families to gather at her restaurant after the ceremony to “toast and celebrate.” When families arrived, they were greeted with a thoughtfully curated prix-fixe menu. As a result of this invitation, the restaurant was packed on a Wednesday night, which I imagine would have typically been a slower evening. Here’s why this move was brilliant: - By orchestrating this post-graduation gathering, the restaurant owner effectively induced FOMO (fear of missing out) among the families and graduates. - This served as an invaluable opportunity for the restaurant owner to showcase her brand to a captive audience. - It provided a great way to acquire new customers. - And to win repeat business once customers experienced the excellent food, service, and ambiance. Whether celebrating a graduation, a birthday, a little league win, or another occasion, is there an event your business can leverage to create memorable experiences and drive growth? Excellent article from Aramark Collegiate Hospitality discussing how they use our research (along with other internal polls) to help campus administrators stay several steps ahead of their competition. As we all know, how students interact with their campus is undergoing substantial change. What's most interesting to me is how students want to feel about their campus is reverting back to students from 20+ years ago (Back to the Future! One of my most favorite movies). But what worked in the past to meet their expectations clearly won't work today. New rules are being created. New winners will emerge. #wRatings #GoForTheW https://lnkd.in/eP-YkR3a

2moSo true even in elementary school. My son and his friends always connect first thing in the morning, over breakfast. They are always asking each other "You going to be at breakfast in the morning!" It starts their day off right!
