For me and my team, positive #MentalHealth support is a top priority.
Creating a work environment that encourages taking time for self-care is essential. As leaders, we must set the example that it is okay to take time off, especially when we work as hard as we do. Everyone on my team understands that nothing is more important than time with family or caring for oneself.
Let's continue to prioritize our well-being and support each other in doing so. #TheTalentDoctor#Selfcare 🚶♀️

#MentalHealth IS NOT JUST about your inner strength.
It’s way more than that.
We’re built to be together.
#MentalHealth IS when we feel connected, noticed, understood, appreciated, supported, and loved.
We DON'T shine brightest when we're outshining everyone around us,
but when we're part of a squad that’s got our back,
whether it's a family, friends, or your team at work.
#MentalHealth IS also about the meaning, the purpose.
It’s about knowing you’re doing the right stuff, that your life’s got a point.
#MentalHealth is about us, our people, our purpose.
💪❤️ #MoreThanStrength#MentalHealth is #Health.
Make #future better than the past.

It's inspiring to see the growing number of agencies signing onto the #BCWeCare coalition and joining our call for three priority actions to improve Mental Health Care and the well-being of all British Columbia.
BCWeCare is a network of organizations across British Columbia who stand together to advocate for the well-being of all residents. It is more than a campaign—it’s a movement that amplifies diverse voices, services, and needs, emphasizing the importance of access, quality, and compassion in mental health care
Together, let’s:
➡️ Close the Gap - in access to mental health care so that everyone who needs care can receive it and we can intervene early to prevent worsening challenges.
➡️ Raise the Bar - in the quality of mental health care so that people benefit from the care they receive, and we can track and measure whether investments are working.
➡️ Respond with Care - so that people experiencing a mental health crisis get the right response at the right time and those affected by the toxic drug crisis have all the options available to them to be well.
Let’s make sure our voices are heard at the ballot box tomorrow. Voting is one of the most powerful ways we can shape the future of health care in BC. Let's keep pushing for the change we need!

THE OLYMPICS HAS PUT THE CONVERSATION ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH UP ON THE PODIUM
And these 3 US athletes have won GOLD for advocacy of the importance of prioritizing Mental Health.
A long overdue conversation is happening.
Seeing it happen at the “highest level of sports” WILL make millions of youth feel SEEN.
Now imagine if your employees saw the conversation happening at the “highest level” within your company?!
They started the conversation.
They lit the torch.
Now it’s our duty to carry the torch forward.
You ready to accept the challenge?

Thank you Brittainy. It is undeniable that while there is increased awareness around mental health issues, tangible support for mental health professionals remains severely lacking in the US and UK. This deficiency is evident in various aspects, such as inadequate provisions for clinicians' well-being, the high costs associated with continuing professional development, supervision, and personal therapy. Particularly concerning is the disparity in pay, especially for those working with large insurance and private companies that reap substantial profits from the essential services provided by mental health professionals. The situation is exacerbated for those in the public sector, where pay increments do not keep pace with inflation. All of what you said and wrote often leads to burnout and high turnover which ultimately is not good for patients and clients.
I also found the suggestion of having the expertise of seasoned mental health professionals on Boards to be particularly impactful. It highlights the urgent need for diverse perspectives and representation from the mental health sector in boardroom discussions. Incorporating a variety of viewpoints can enrich conversations on services, professional practices, financial considerations, equity, inclusivity, and diversity. Such inclusive discussions are crucial for instigating meaningful changes within organisations.

Okay, here's how I really feel about Mental Health Awareness Month 😬
Clinicians, comment below how allies could show up meaningfully for you!
Here are some ideas:
-Sponsor therapy or peer support for therapists & counselors
-Sponsor mentorship or supervision hours for prelicensed clinicians
-Pay someone's licensure fees or send them to that specialized training they've been really wanting to take.
-Gift self care packages - yoga classes, massage, breathwork, nature retreats, extra paid time off, etc.
-Start a support group, walking club, or other activity that builds community among therapists/counselors in your organization.
-Write or call local political leaders to advocate for mental health intitiatives in your state.
-Raise reimbursement rates
-Lower caseload requirements
-Be accountable to clinicians over shareholders
-Put a seasoned mental health professional on your Board of Directors.
-Create more seats for clinicians at decision-making tables
