Today some of our team attended a webinar facilitated by CHAMPS for World Suicide Prevention Day 2024 👏 It was a really powerful session with though-provoking and incredibly hopeful presentations from a number of speakers, including Mike from Three Dads Walking, Angela from Alfie's Squad and two contributions from CHAMPS' service user network. The theme for WSPD is 'Changing the Narrative on Suicide', with the supporting line 'Start the Conversation'. This was very much achieved in this session so huge thank you to CHAMPS and those who shared their stories. It's important to work together to change the narrative & support one another. #SuicidePreventionCM #WSPD2024 #HubofHope #Talks #LocalSupport https://lnkd.in/eBgNCzt5 Topics from today can be triggering and uncomfortable for some, if you feel you need to - it's absolutely okay to switch off from social media to give yourself space today. If you or somebody you know is in need of support, visit the Hub of Hope today.

Next week marks a significant milestone in the movement to address an often-overlooked issue: the 2024 International Conference on Violence Against Men and Boys. After two and a half years of hard work, collaboration, and dedication, this groundbreaking virtual event is finally happening. I'm honored to be opening and closing Day Two of the conference, as well as speaking in a breakout session alongside some of the most inspiring and knowledgeable individuals in this field, John-Michael Lander and Cranford Blackmon. It was with the support of the VAMB Steering Commitee and dozens of incredible volunteers that this event is happening. There is a diverse lineup of expert speakers—spanning from public health organizations, academia, healthcare, criminal justice, and lived experience—we're setting the stage for transformative change. This conference isn't just an event; it's a crucial public health intervention aimed at preventing violence against men and boys. Together, we'll explore the structural determinants of violence, it's devastating impacts on mental and physical health, and how it intersects with issues like education, criminal justice involvement, financial stability, and public safety. I can't wait to see the impact this conference will have on attendees and the broader community. Let’s make history together! #PublicHealth #ViolencePrevention #MentalHealth #SocialImpact #VAMB2024 #BreakTheCycle Agenda: https://lnkd.in/exndEpfJ Register: https://lnkd.in/eDMAmX6a

Thinking about integrated communities teams today as I facilitated the West Area Health Forum and what we’ve learned about key success factors so far…the case for action seems to be made but the how is yet to be set…so 1) community led- a meeting that is set by local people and meets their needs will also meet the needs of all the multiple statutory/community and voluntary sector people. Everyone loves jargon free, tight agendas and inclusive style 2) community insight - local people know the issues and where rhetoric doesn’t match reality and understand instinctively when the system is wasting energy and resources 3) that when we support primary care we deliver much more of what communities need and that when primary care and communities actually join forces we are unstoppable…strategically and operationally 4) …that everyone agrees we must focus on prevention including and especially those whose job is crisis!

Hi Everyone! 🌟 "Adverse childhood experiences are the greatest unaddressed public health threat facing our nation today." - Dr. Robert Block We must prioritize addressing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and recognize how these formative experiences can shape us as individuals. By understanding the profound impact of ACEs, we can build more compassionate and effective support systems that help people heal, grow, and thrive despite their past challenges. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #adversechildhoodexperiences
