Yesterday was Memorial Day, a time to honor and remember those who have sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. This day always makes me pause and think about the values of dedication, commitment, and integrity that these heroes embodied. As a professional, I find myself deeply inspired by these values. How can we incorporate such unwavering dedication into our daily work? How can we ensure that we are committed to justice and integrity in every case we handle? For me, Memorial Day is not just a day of remembrance, but also a reminder to strive for excellence in all we do. It’s a call to honor those values in our own lives and professions. I’d love to hear your thoughts. How does Memorial Day inspire you in your professional journey? #MemorialDay #Reflection #Values #Dedication #Integrity

We live in an era of great confusion and disappointment with governance and a general dissatisfaction in our representation in OUR government. Allow me share some memorable advice my granma used to share to me- "things seem to always get worse before they get better", or even more shared, "It's always darkest right before dawn". The idea of "America" was that of a "great experiment", at a time where entire nations were either ruLED by a monarchy or were empires were RULED by emperors, a group of enlightened people conceptualized the idea of a nation ruled by the people. They even postulated a number of scenarios in that! Some were unrealistic, some were marginally laughable. But the concept was so appealing, men were willing to die for it. In the decades around what we today know as America's "Independence Day", this nation developed a principle that would be used over and over in many other lands on this planet. Back to today- I try to remember the advice from my granma when I understand that the experiment is still running, because the settings were never potted in epoxy- Lest we forget that those enlightened people considered that times would change, society would change and thus governance should be able to change to support that change. I won't waste your time talking about the things we should have learned in our civics classes in school, but consider those now... As we celebrate our Independence, let us also remember that the cost of FREEDOM is NEVER FREE- When we are a military protecting the homeland from external influences that would compromise the autonomy of our nation's governance or it's people's freedoms, OR safety. Or, a citizen that understands that we are not expected to leave the governance of our country to someone else, but that a government "Of, WE the People" means that what we have is the product of our contributions, or lack there of... Make America what you expect it to be, make YOUR contributions to it- participate in the government of it, scrutinize the abilities and effectiveness of those you choose to represent you in government, consider what happens to the governance as that representative exploits your representation- we are NOT choosing leaders here folks- we are CHOOSING those that REPRESENT our expectations in the governance of this "Nation built on the GREAT EXPERIMENT... Happy 4th of July- Let Freedom Ring!

Does our allegiance reside with power and patriotism, or does it rest with the people? For what it's worth, my thoughts as a retired military officer follow: Why draw imaginary lines where none are needed? Our allegiance, in my mind, should be with the living, doing our very best to serve and care for life ... every life. Only in this way, through love and compassion, shall we, as one family, share in the days of peace that await us. Flags, patriotism, and all the stuff we associate with misplaced and misguided power plays do little more than build walls that divide us when humanity should, instead, be very busy building bridges. A child, therefore, should be afforded equal opportunity to align their 'allegiance' as they see fit, not as others dictate. To take the opportunity away is no worse (or better) than mandating recitation of allegiance. The world is made of many peoples, none better or worse than ourselves. Let us, therefore, pledge ourselves to making their lives more gentle. Instead of beating each other up and killing one another's children in the name of politic, power, and patriotism, let us, instead tackle problems that affect us all. In so doing, we make life gentler for all. Whatever we do, let us do it determined to bring justice, freedom, unity, decency, acceptance, love, understanding, and respect to everyone.

🇺🇸 #NeverForget 🇺🇸 Today marks the 22nd anniversary of 9/11, a day that forever changed our lives. It's crucial that we pause to remember and honor the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost in the tragic events of that day. 9/11 taught us the resilience of the human spirit, the power of unity, and the importance of coming together as a nation. In the face of adversity, we saw countless acts of heroism and selflessness. As we pay tribute to the fallen, let's also reflect on how this day shaped our world. It underscored the need for vigilance, strengthened our commitment to freedom, and highlighted the value of empathy and understanding in an increasingly interconnected world. Let's ensure that the memory of 9/11 lives on, not just as a reminder of the pain and loss, but as a symbol of our enduring strength, unity, and hope for a better future. #September11 #UnitedWeStand #NeverForget911 🇺🇸🗽🙏
