There's nothing like the impending arrival of a baby to force you to get your ducks in a row 🦆 When we found out we were expecting, Tim and I were absolutely delighted, but our thoughts quickly went to planning for my absence from the business. We started creating a strategic plan early on so that the business could continue to operate efficiently during my maternity leave, and I think we've just about completed it! We have successfully rolled out new systems across the business to enable the teams to have the data to make decisions and execute plans independently. Improving our team benefits was also high on my agenda, including upgrading our maternity and paternity benefits. We've also had a huge push for very diverse roles and responsibilities, hiring: – An executive assistant – A marketing manager – A senior talent partner – A power system engineer – Our KTP engineer, partnering with the MMU – A site services engineer – A financial manager – A Head of Business Development It's also an exciting time to put this new team into action, as we update our strategies across departments and outline the next wave of growth and hires to take place while I'm away. If you thought I couldn't possibly do more within the 9 months it takes to grow a tiny human, we're also at the final stages of securing our brand-new office space. It's such an exciting time for us, both at work and at home. 2024 is already shaping up to be a fantastic year. #business #growth #strategy #maternityleave

When I built my consultancy, I was terrified of the idea of building a team (read: hiring employees), and played it safe with a stellar but nimble roster of contractors that adapted to my project portfolio over time. But with my coaching practice, I've committed to--eventually--growing a team (= hiring). My first big benchmark is to make my first hire by the end of this calendar year.
