Political upheaval today affecting France, Germany, Canada, US, and other nations. Signs of the times. Preparing for the Time of Chaos that ends the Industrial Age and entrenches the Technoljgy Age, governments worldwide face enormous challenges. Thus was the world situation 100 years ago, as the Feudal Order gave way to the Industrial Age, when humans moved from farms and fiefdoms to offices and factories. It's all in the process of Man's evolution of his global order into a human society that, hopefully, finally delivers the nobel dreams of our high self, escaping our common earthly nature. - sms

It is always worth reading the World Trade Report of the WTO. Today, the World Trade Report 2024 was published: "Trade and inclusiveness: How to make trade work for all" https://lnkd.in/es6bvM4c On the WTO blog, Chief Economist Ralph Ossa presents his highlights: "The report reaches three main conclusions. First, trade has a strong track record as a driver of inclusiveness. Second, despite this success, too many economies and people remain left behind. Third, bridging this gap requires a comprehensive strategy — one that integrates open trade with complementary domestic policies and fosters greater international cooperation." https://lnkd.in/enjhz_5S

The World Trade Organization is supposed to be the Governing body of World Trade !. Sadly though, we are discussing problems, challenges and hurdles even in this 30th year of formation of this 'empowered' body !. The Powerful #G7 is able to have their say easily, able to circumvent rules, tilt scales in their favor without any problems, challenges and hurdles !. Publications like this are an indicating of WTO's growing weakness and lack of direction. #G21, #GlobalSouth, #BRICS like forums must take charge to rescue #WTO to restore sanity and purpose. #India stands for #FreeAndFairTrade !. 🇮🇳🤝🌍 #Worldtrade #Internationalbusiness #TradeBalance #CAD #BOT #exports #imports #unitednations #UNCTAD #OECD #G20 #G21 #
Happy to share the publication of an edited volume with Dr. Oindrila Dey, entitled, “Influence of WTO and Global Dynamics on Trade Flows: A Machine-Generated Literature Overview”, that has been recently published by Springer Nature (https://lnkd.in/g33N6HX7). The volume, covering reviews of a wide array of papers, is focusing on diverse aspects of contemporary issues overshadowing global trade patterns, namely, challenges and opportunities under WTO in coming future; price-based barriers; non-tariff barriers; trade, environment and climate change; RTAs and trade integration and emerging issues under the multilateral framework.

The recent Global Trade Outlook by the World Trade Organization, as just presented also by Ralph Ossa here at the WTO headquarters, providing clear evidence on the worrying trend of geopolitical fragmentation of trade (even more striking when looking at the US and China specifically).
