Spent an incredible day with The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Honors College exploring Chattanooga’s transit system! 🚍✨ We covered key topics including public transit options (fixed route, electric shuttles, microtransit, Bike Chattanooga, etc), the benefits of electric vehicles, on-street parking strategies, and the history of the iconic Incline Railway. Noticing their concern, Teresa comforted the children, let them contact their parents, and ensured they arrived home safely. My personal mission as Director of Communications for S3 is to demystify riding CARTA to increase UTC student use of Chattanooga’s transit system. Because ridership must be increased for more frequent service, it is crucial that we get students riding the bus that they’ve paid for with tuition. This “Riding CARTA 101: A Brat Tutorial” was the first thing I posted that got a lot of students excited about riding the bus by educating them while utilizing current trends. Since I began posting CARTA content on the Student Sustainability Society’s Instagram, I have seen more students on both the Mocs Express and regular routes. Before this semester, I had never encountered another UTC student on a CARTA route besides the Mocs Express. I appreciate the support from Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority’s Instagram staffer! They’ve been reposting the content I create which helps us both boost engagement 🚎🚏♻️
