“Paper cups” often have a hidden layer of plastic to keep them waterproof. Today, on Earth Day, we teamed up with The Circle Work to calculate the waste generated by disposable cups. And what started as a simple count, turned into an eye-opening reality check. #HappyEarthDay #PlasticVsPlanet #EarthDay #SustainableChoices #EyeOpener #RealityCheck #MakeMyTripFoundation #collaboration #sustainability #CircleWork

We've all heard of artists who create their work out of waste, in other words, rubbish. Some of the works are really beautiful and eye-catching, while raising awareness about the current pollution issues. But... There are also some who make art out of waste because it is "trendy". Because they can promote themselves as socially responsible artists... Because everyone else is doing it... A pile of plastic in the middle of the city, or plastic bottle caps hanging from the ceiling, or maybe PET bottles cut up and made into DIY flowers? You name it... Would you like to own this piece of art? Creative use of waste and making new things out of it can be useful, interesting and even necessary, but creative sustainability is also about NOT making more rubbish out of rubbish. Create responsibly! #NoOffence #MorningThoughts #CreativeSustainability

Plastic has become an essential part of our lives. But not all the plastic that we consume is essential. The plastic bag we use today will take anything between 10-20 years the fully decompose. The plastic mineral water bottle that we use and casually discard today on 3rd July 2024, will fully degrade in July 2474. Imagine that. We humans of earth produce approximately 380 Million Tonnes of plastic every year. That means more than 3 times the number of all the trucks in India fully laden with dense compressed plastic bags or crushed plastic bottles. On World Plastic Day , let us all take a pledge of using plastic judiciously. Let us not leave a legacy of a used mineral water bottle to be discovered by someone in 2474 AD. I am a plastic bag, light yet strong, But in this world, I don't belong. It takes centuries for me to decay, In landfills and oceans, I forever stay. So use me wisely, sparingly, with care, For Earth's health, let's all be aware. Reduce, reuse, recycle - that's the key, To a cleaner, greener world for you and me. #PlasticBagFreeDay #SayNoToPlasticBags #PlasticFree #BanPlasticBags #ReducePlasticWaste #SaveThePlanet

This past Monday was Earth Day! To celebrate we dove into all areas of our business to explore what we’re doing right – and where we can improve for the planet. Corporate: As a testament to our company's social and environmental efforts to do better, we achieved B Corp certification this past December. Employees: To help reduce our carbon footprint and enjoy some fresh air, we encourage employees to commute to work by bicycle through an annual subsidy program. Product: Our mission is to replace crappy, fragile, disposable tights—for good. Through our rip-resistant technology, we’ve already kept ten million pairs of disposable tights out of landfills. Brand: We live and breathe sustainability—beyond our really strong tights. That’s why we prioritize local designers, sustainable garments, and second-hand clothing as the styling for our brand campaigns. Take a look here: https://lnkd.in/eAhyzEbN

𝑳𝒆𝒕'𝒔 𝑱𝒐𝒊𝒏 𝑯𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑬𝒏𝒗𝒊𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 - 𝑨 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒖𝒂𝒍! 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 - 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡, is an important occasion for each individual, organization, and community to come together and take action for a green, clean, and beautiful environment. This is the time to remind ourselves of the importance of protecting Earth, our common home. Protecting the environment is not only a responsibility but also an obligation of every person to ensure sustainable development for the present and future generations. 𝐋𝐞𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐒-𝐋𝐨𝐤𝐚 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭! 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐛𝐚𝐠 𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞: Regular plastic bags take hundreds or even thousands of years to decompose completely. Therefore, instead of using plastic bags, let's: · Use an eco-friendly cloth or paper bags. · Bring your cloth bag when shopping. · Reuse plastic bags if possible. · Reduce the use of plastic-packaged products. 𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲: Electricity is mainly produced from fossil fuels such as coal, gas, and oil. When burned, these fuels release greenhouse gases that cause climate change. Therefore, to save electricity, let's: · Turn off lights when not in use. · Use energy-saving devices. · Unplug electronic devices when not in use. · Take advantage of natural light. 𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫: Water is a precious resource and is becoming increasingly scarce. Therefore, to save water, let's: · Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth, shaving, or washing your face. · Take a quick shower and use a water-saving showerhead. · Reuse laundry water to water plants. · Fix leaky faucets. At S-Loka, we always believe that: Every small action, no matter how small, can make a big difference for the environment. Therefore, we are committed to making every effort to provide eco-friendly products and services, and at the same time inspire the community to join hands to protect our green and clean Earth. #ProtectTheEnvironment #EarthDay #EnvironmentDay #WorldEnvironmentDay #EnvironmentMonth #ActionMonthForTheEnvironment #S-LokaNoPlastic #Green-Clean-BeautifulEarth #TogetherWeProtectTheEnvironment #S-Loka

The beauty industry, meant to promote wellness and care, is contributing to a mounting environmental crisis. The image below is a sobering reminder of how our overconsumption and reliance on plastic are impacting the planet. A plastic bottle, so common in beauty packaging, can take 450 years to decompose in the ocean. This isn’t just about waste—it’s about the long-term damage we’re doing to our environment. Do we realize the cost of convenience? It's time to rethink our choices in beauty. The industry must move towards sustainable alternatives and reduce its plastic footprint. If we don’t act now, the very beauty we cherish could be lost forever 🌎 #beauty #sustainablebeauty #planetpositive #health #travelretail
