Happy St. Valentine's Day, celebrated each year on February 14th, is recognized around the world as a day to celebrate love and affection between intimate companions. The day is named after one or more early Christian martyrs named Saint Valentine, and through later folk traditions, has become associated with the tradition of courtly love. It wasn't until the 14th century that this Christian feast day became definitively associated with love, thanks to the traditions laid down by authors such as Geoffrey Chaucer during the High Middle Ages when the tradition of courtly love flourished. The significance of St. Valentine's Day has evolved over the years. Initially, it was a day to honour Saint Valentine of Rome and Saint Valentine of Terni. By the Middle Ages, it had become a day to express love and admiration to those close to one's heart. This was often done through the exchange of love notes and later, in the modern era, through cards, flowers (especially roses), chocolates, and other gifts that symbolize love and affection. As for the "love of wool," this phrase can be interpreted in a couple of ways. In a literal sense, it could refer to the appreciation for wool as a material—its warmth, durability, and versatility. Wool has been a crucial textile in human history, used for clothing, blankets, and other items that provide comfort and protection against the cold. On a more metaphorical level, "the love of wool" might symbolize a fondness for things that are cozy, comforting, and natural. Wool, being a natural fibre obtained from sheep and other animals, represents a connection to the natural world and traditional craftsmanship.
