Marketeers- this is a really interesting 10 minute watch, as Tash Whitmey describes how Tesco Clubcard really do have the right mix of channels and show there is a place for Direct Mail. I love how she describes the ‘Magic Moments’… it’s spot on, my kids cheered yesterday when we got clubcard discounts of over £7 on our small shop! In a world where we are often overwhelmed with digital, I personally still enjoy a great piece of DM landing on my doorstep! (Including my Tesco Clubcard summary!) How are you using print in your marketing mix? #directmail #loyalty #crm #magicmoments #digitalmarketing #marketing
Brace yourselves! Our latest Mail Unleashed episode has just dropped. Tash Whitmey, who was part of the team behind the Tesco Clubcard, sits down with Rory Sutherland to spill the beans on creating connections with customers through the magic of mail. Watch now! ➡️

Build it and they will come? It’s not so simple. Hosts Diana Ransom and Christine Lagorio-Chafkin spoke with founders who took two totally different approaches to a core business concept: finding product-market fit. They spoke with Michelle Grant, founder of the sugar-free energy drink GORGIE, and Brittany and Steven Yeng, founders of the peanut butter liquor brand Skrewball Whiskey, about how they identified their markets, strategies they used to get their items on shelves, and how they applied consumer feedback to adjust what they were selling. Every year & quarter in GTM, our work is measured against hard targets. However our efforts show up on the scoreboard, it's up to us to measure what matters the most on our own. This post contains spoilers for the latest season of the Great British Bake Off. 🇬🇧 🥧 My wife got me absolutely hooked on GBBO early in our relationship. It’s the opposite of American reality TV. The producers score & cut the show to minimize the drama between contestants. There’s no prize money or dream job at the end. Every season documents a group of amateurs completing baking challenges- often helping each other- to get to the next round. There are judges who rank the bakes and they provide a structure to the journey, but the contest is never about being better than someone else. The weird thing about cooking contests is even though the judges can taste the food and we can only see it, the audience develops strong opinions about who deserves to advance and who doesn’t. When the lopsided, awkwardly colored cake below stole the final round and its' baker Matty was declared the show’s winner, people cried foul. There were clearly better looking bakes. Without possibly knowing the merits of the contestants’ work, people passed their own judgment and conspiracy theories ran rampant. But I believe the truth is both simple & universal. We can all be that ugly cake- judged on our appearances, our curated digital exhaust, or one round on the scoreboard. And we can all be Matty, who never intended to be on the show or expected to make it past the first round, but worked his hardest every day between contests and in the baking tent, because he had an opportunity that he wanted to do his absolute best with. 💪 Whatever your scoreboard says this year- but especially if it’s good- don’t lose sight of your #InfiniteGame, your intrinsic drive, or your real worth. With the cake, with Matty, with all of us- it’s always what’s inside that matters most. Merry Christmas & happy holidays, LinkedIn fam. Here’s to being good & good to each other in the year ahead. ❤️
