Teaching children how to engage in healthy relationships is a priceless gift we can give children. Accomplishments don’t equal a happy life, meaningful relationships do. Unfortunately we often prioritize accomplishments(and bragging rights) over healthy relationships for kids. It’s likely that our parents did the same thing so it can be difficult to figure out what to do instead. Learning to create and maintain healthy relationships is more important than learning to run the rat race.

A large proportion of donor-conceived are not told of their true identity. This only creates long lasting relationship problems (with their parents), and also violates the basic human rights of the person (a right to know their true origins and parent/s). It’s important to advocate for this. All parties are better off, with full early disclosure. Indeed, this must be more heavily, either legislated or some other form of check, because history shows that even if parents are told this by the medicos/counseling etc., they don’t actually adhere to the advice in many cases - they keep it a secret from the child. Not On. The rights of “the child” are the only thing that matter here. We need to shift the conversation to the rights of the child (not the parents).

Parents in Education Should: Lead by Example, Guide with Love "Children are a reflection of their parents; they learn from our every word and action. Educating children requires not only warmth but also calm reflection and self-examination. We cannot simply demand that our children achieve something while neglecting to be the example ourselves. By truly understanding our children’s world and guiding them through our actions, we create an education that is both powerful and enduring." Warmth and Reflection: The Art of Balanced Parenting "Parents’ words and actions are the first lessons children learn. Educating children requires not only loving warmth but also a calm mind. If we expect our children to achieve something, we must first achieve it ourselves. Only by thoughtfully considering our children’s needs and emotions can we find the perfect balance between love and discipline in our home." #MOMWILIKE
