The working world is not inclusive until we prioritize accessibility and accommodations. This video is an excellent commentary on the topic.

Today marks the start of Learning Disability Week.
This year's theme is "Do you see me?" which is all about being seen, heard and valued.
For Mencap, this means asking each of the following questions on a daily basis:
"Do you see me?" 👀
"Do you understand me?" 🤔
"Will you work with me?" 🤝
"Do you hear me?" 👂
"Do you include me?" 👬
"Will you support me?" 🎗️
What will you be doing this Learning Disability Week (*and beyond)?
#learningdisabilityweek#mencap#doyouseeme
This #learningdisabilityweek, Mencap are asking ‘Do you see me?’. They are challenging the barriers which people with a learning disability face, and celebrating what they bring to society.
During the week, they will be asking if people with a learning disability are heard, understood, included, and supported.
Let’s support Mencap and #learningdisabilityweek by making changes to enhance inclusion for people of all abilities.
This is great to see; WelcoMe has such potential but needs the power of social media to tell the people who need it that it's theirs for the taking! Please read and share this article. Great work Gavin Neate!

A shout out to Isabelle Jani-Friend. One of the first journalists to embrace what WelcoMe delivered and its potential for the future of #CustomerService.
As a disabled person herself Izzie was the ideal person to write this article as her own experiences are reflected in the power of her piece.
There is no replacement for lived experience when it comes to getting to the heart of a story.
Many thanks Izzie. I will always come to you first.

Ps get well soon Izzie. The world of journalism needs you.💪
Disabled talent gives you the edge.
1 in 5 of your customers are disabled. You might not know this of course, as you might be confusing disability with wheelchair use, but it’s a fact.
When you design services or even just when you talk about your services, you include the perspective of disabled people, you will multiply the chance of engaging them.
We’ve not talked about #Employ20* for a while but key for us at WelcoMe that when we tell our story we do so with the disabled person front and centre.
It’s why we love it when Isabelle Jani-Friend engages with our story and writes articles like this one.
Don’t let your lack of awareness remove 1/5th of your potential income.
Engage disabled people today.. and #Employ20.
*20% of people are disabled so check to see how many you employ.. and do better.

On today’s episode of Superpowers for Good, I had the pleasure of speaking with Carina Comer, the owner of Carina's Bakery. Carina’s story is remarkable not only because of her journey as a legally blind entrepreneur but also because of the impact her bakery is making on her community. Carina’s Bakery, located in Beaverton, Oregon, isn’t just a business; it’s a place of opportunity, especially for people with disabilities.
Carina shared how her own experiences with vision loss, stemming from childhood health challenges, inspired her to create a bakery that employs individuals with a range of disabilities. "I probably had 40 people with disabilities work for me or do work experiences or internships throughout that time," she explained. This commitment has fostered a sense of community and growth, not just for her employees but also for her as a leader. She described the joy she feels watching her employees, many of whom have been overlooked by traditional employers, gain confidence and contribute meaningfully.
What struck me most was Carina’s reflection on the challenges of managing a business with such a diverse workforce, yet how the rewards far outweigh the difficulties. She continues to grow as a leader and hopes to inspire other businesses to embrace the unique contributions that people with disabilities can bring to the table.
For those interested in supporting Carina’s mission, she is currently raising capital through a regulated investment crowdfunding campaign on Honeycomb Credit. You can check out her campaign at s4g.biz[slash]carina to learn more about how she is using these funds to further develop her bakery and its training programs.
Carina’s dedication is a testament to the power of inclusive employment and the incredible potential that lies in everyone.

✨ Take it a step further and look for specific LGBTQ+ job boards and company lists with queer leadership.
Building these connections is the key to finding more inclusive workplaces that might just be your next dream career.
