DuPont to Acquire Donatelle Plastics: Transaction Deepens #Healthcare Offerings in Medical Device Solutions #DuPont has signed an agreement to acquire US #medical device contract manufacturer Donatelle Plastics. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter 2024, subject to satisfaction of customary closing conditions and receipt of regulatory approvals. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. "Our healthcare strategy is focused on offering a comprehensive suite of solutions for customers in high-growth #therapeutic areas," said Jon Kemp, president of DuPont Electronics & Industrial (E&I). "Donatelle Plastics, Inc. will be the second #acquisition, following Spectrum last year, that will deepen our expertise in the medical device market segments and enhance our position as a partner of choice for our customers.” DuPont’s healthcare exposure within the Industrial Solutions line of business of the E&I segment includes Spectrum, a producer of specialty plastics for medical device components, and Liveo Research, a provider of silicone solutions for healthcare applications. The acquisition of Donatelle Plastics will bring complementary advanced technologies and capabilities including medical device injection molding, liquid #silicone rubber processing, precision machining, device assembly, and tool building. 💰 WACKER acquires Bio Med Sciences, Inc. manufacturing assets and expertise The purchase agreement between WACKER and the US-based Bio Med Sciences, Inc. includes a silicone adhesive coating test and development centre for applications designed for medical devices and advanced wound care applications. The deal also includes the transfer of the majority of Bio Med Sciences, Inc.’ employees to WACKER. Both entities have not disclosed the purchase price. Wacker Buys Manufacturing Assets and Know-how of Bio Med Sciences, Inc. In a move to expand its expertise and business in silicone-coated #healthcare products, Germany’s WACKER Chemie has acquired the manufacturing assets and know-how of US-based Bio Med Sciences. As part of the #acquisition, a majority of Bio Med Sciences’ workforce will also move to Wacker, the company said. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. With the deal, Wacker said that it has advanced its expertise for fully integrated development and production of silicone-coated adhesive products. #Silicones are best-in-class adhesive solutions due to their unmatched skin compatibility and tunable adhesive properties. According to Wacker, the skin fixation market for health care patches and #medical devices has been growing in popularity for years. “By taking over Bio Med Sciences’ assets, technology, and know-how, we are now a solution provider for the health care industry. We can support and collaborate with customers who are looking for innovative adhesive coating solutions in the healthcare sector even better.
