Planting trees is one of the most effective ways we can mitigate the impact of climate change and restore our planet's #biodiversity . I truly hope that more organizations follow this lead and encourage individuals to take responsibility for their #actions towards the environment. #Africa #climateaction

As we gather to honor Memorial Day, we remember not only those who have served and sacrificed for our country but also the ongoing journey toward healing and justice within our communities. 💛This day serves as a poignant reminder of the cost of war and the importance of nurturing a society that reflects the values we stand for—equality, respect, and dignity for all. ⚖️ In remembering the past, we acknowledge the wounds of social injustices that continue to impact many in our society. Today, we recommit to healing these wounds through education, understanding, and empathy. By fostering environments where healing leads to growth, we strengthen our communities and create a foundation for sustainable peace and prosperity. ☮️ 🕊️ Together, we can transform our collective suffering into a source of strength. United in our diversity and driven by our common goals, we support each other to build a future where everyone enjoys a better quality of life. Let us use this day to reflect on our shared values and reinvigorate our efforts to move forward as one. 🌱 🤲 On this Memorial Day, let us pledge to remember, to heal, and to unite. Together, we build the pillars of a resilient community that honors the sacrifices of the past by crafting a just and hopeful future. 🌟

Texas Day – February 1, 2024 (United States) Texas Day was first celebrated in 2017 after it was created online. At first, this holiday was seen as unnecessary as the date was not related to any key moments in Texas. However, the holiday is still regarded as another day to celebrate the Lone Star State. ‘Texas’ is a name derived from ‘taysha,’ a word in the Caddoan language, meaning ‘friend’ or ‘ally.’ Texas has a funny history. It has been territorialized by six different countries: France, Spain, Mexico, the United States, the Confederate States, and the Republic of Texas, for over three centuries. For nine years (1836 — 1845), Texas was an independent country. It joined the United States as the 28th state on December 29, 1845, and its capital city is Austin. The armadillo is the state’s official animal, and its official flower is the bluebonnet. Its official sport is Rodeo, and its official dish is ‘chili con Carne,’ a red stew dish made with dried meat without beans. Being one of the largest and most populated states in the United States, Texas has a population of over 28 million residents and a land area of 268,596 square miles. The current Texas governor is Greg Abbott. It is famous for Rodeos, special Texan B.B.Q.s, live music, hot weather, Dr Pepper, and its large size. The state brags about its Whataburger, state fair, beautiful sunsets, and its water park, Schlitterbahn. #PhoenixDelivers #texas

ICYMI: A New Era for Bobwhite Quail In order to make significant progress in restoring bobwhite quail populations, wild lands and working lands must work together for the benefit of the life they support and the livelihoods they sustain. That’s why one of Quail Forever’s strategic priorities includes restoring and enhancing 780,000 acres of upland habitat on private land in targeted quail states by 2026. That may seem like a daunting task, but luckily there are proven programs, solid partnerships, and a brand-new opportunity for landowners to utilize. Watch our original film, “A New Era for Bobwhite Quail,” to learn about some of these landmark initiatives while also hearing from landowners who are making – and seeing – a difference for quail populations on their own properties in Georgia and Missouri. My job is just Fat Bear. Today's the day! Every fall, Katmai National Park & Preserve in Alaska hosts #FatBearWeek, an annual tournament celebrating the success of the bears at the park’s Brooks River. From October 4 - 10, 2023, your vote will decide who will wear the crown. (No actual crown will be placed on the bear. Volunteers to place crowns were hard to come by.) By the end of the week, only one well-fed ursine will receive the title of the fattest bear. For each pairing of bears, you'll be given the opportunity to vote on the bear of your choosing. To make sure you’re making an informed choice, meet the bears, learn about previous champions, or watch a live stream of the bears of Brooks River at: https://lnkd.in/gpDyfep6 Voting will occur daily from 8am - 5pm AKDT at fatbearweek.org!
