Upholstery: because even your couch deserves a wardrobe change every now and then. 😂☺️ You see, even the smallest details often make the biggest impact. One of those crucial details is upholstery. The fabric you choose for furniture can completely transform a space, adding texture, color, and personality. Whether it's the plush velvet of a cozy armchair or the sleek linen on a modern sofa, upholstery does more than just cover furniture—it sets the tone for the entire room. The right fabric choice can elevate the design, enhance comfort, and even influence how the space is used. Pro Tip: When selecting upholstery fabric, consider both form and function. Ask yourself: How will this piece be used? For high-traffic areas, opt for durable, easy-to-clean materials like performance fabrics or tightly woven textiles. For a luxurious feel in a less-used space, you might lean toward richer fabrics like velvet or silk. Always request fabric samples to feel the texture and see how the colors play with your lighting. Remember, upholstery is not just a covering; it’s a statement that ties your design vision together. #InteriorDesign #Upholstery #DesignDetails #FabricSelection #DesignTips #CouchCouture #FabricFashion #DesignHumor

Choosing the Right Upholstery Fabric: What You Need to Know When it comes to selecting upholstery fabric, it’s more than just aesthetics—it’s about durability, lifestyle, and comfort. Here are a few things to keep in mind to help you make the perfect choice for your custom furniture: Lifestyle Matters – Have pets, kids, or a high-traffic household? Opt for fabrics like microfiber, leather, or performance fabrics that can withstand daily wear and tear. Color & Pattern – Lighter colors can brighten a space but may show stains more easily. Patterns and darker shades can hide imperfections and add depth to your room. Fabric Durability – Fabrics like linen and cotton blends offer a soft, luxurious feel, but if longevity is key, consider synthetics or tightly woven materials. Maintenance – Some fabrics require special care. Make sure you choose one that fits your maintenance routine, whether it's spot-cleaning or professional cleaning. At Divano Designs, we take pride in helping our clients find the perfect fabric to match both their design vision and their day-to-day needs. Our custom upholstery options ensure that your furniture not only looks great but also lasts. Let us guide you to the right choice! #InteriorDesign #CustomUpholstery #DivanoDesigns #HomeDecor #FurnitureFabric #DesignTips

Let’s be honest—how many times have you heard a furniture brand say their pieces are “unique” or “one of a kind,” only to find the same bland designs with minor tweaks? Change the color, swap a leg style, and somehow, it’s supposed to feel special. But it doesn’t, does it? It feels like everyone is working off the same design template, just dressed up in a slightly different outfit. That’s why GHIDINI1961 is such a breath of fresh air. We’ve built our entire style around standing out, and the way we do it is honestly brilliant: 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘀. Think shiny brass that lights up a room, burnished brass that feels warm and timeless, or sleek deep anthracite that’s bold and modern. GHIDINI1961 gives you the power to choose exactly how your piece looks. And here’s the best part: we don’t hold back. While some brands play it safe with subtle details, GHIDINI1961 leans into big, beautiful statements. Whether it’s a table, a light fixture, or a chair, it’s designed to make you feel like you’ve found something no one else has. What I love about us is how personal it all feels. In a world where so much looks and feels the same, GHIDINI1961 is out here making furniture that’s truly yours. That’s rare. And honestly? That’s worth celebrating. #GHIDINI1961 #MadeinItaly #Craftsmanship #ItalianDesign

January Furniture Show: La-Z-Boy looks to widen appeal with new look La-Z-Boy Incorporated used the show to debut a collection of more upmarket and contemporary motion upholstery designs as it looked to widen the brand’s appeal. In response to requests from retailers looking to maximise the strength of the brand and target a new set of consumers that may not have considered the traditional La-Z-Boy look and increased manufacturing capability, half of the company’s JFS offer was aimed at this potential growth sector. Pebble is a curved, deep seat chaise design while River is a wide seat design with a metal frame that looks to hide the motion mechanisms under the seats. Skye is a large corner unit with a curvy look and a supportive sit in leather and the option of a large pouffe. Jasmine is a fixed back corner unit while Faith sports semi-showwood arms and high headrests among its corner options. The designs were complemented by a trio of accent chairs sporting wooden arms, with push-back recliner mechanism, mid-century and high back styling choices. https://lnkd.in/ei9t2CgY #furniture #furnitureindustry #furnitureshow #lazyboy #newproducts #newfurniture

While tufted sofas can appear bulky, furnishing experts have developed several strategies to create a more streamlined look: Slimming Down #TuftedSofas 1. Clean-lined frames: Using a clean-lined frame or a sleek, low-profile base can help minimize the visual bulk of a tufted sofa. 2. Tapered legs: Tapered legs or slender metal legs can create a sense of airiness and reduce the perceived bulk of the sofa. 3. Tailored upholstery: A tailored, fitted upholstery design can help create a more streamlined appearance, reducing the bulkiness of the tufting. 4. Proportionate scale: Ensuring the tufted sofa is proportionate to the room and surrounding furniture can help it feel less bulky. 5. Visual balance: Balancing the tufted sofa with other design elements, such as a minimalist coffee table or a sleek console table, can help create a sense of harmony and reduce the perceived bulk. Design Trends to Minimize Bulk 1. Modern tufting techniques: New tufting techniques, such as subtle, tone-on-tone tufting, can create a more understated look. 2. Slimmer tufting patterns: Using slimmer tufting patterns or more minimalist designs can help reduce the visual bulk of the sofa. 3. Low-profile tufting: Low-profile tufting, where the tufts are less pronounced, can create a more streamlined appearance.

🗣️ Real Simple advises families to choose Crypton! “The best color for your sectional sofa depends on your style preference, lifestyle, and room layout. Do you have pets leaving muddy paw prints all over? Do your kids take crayons to every white surface? "If you're planning to eat and drink on this piece, you may want to avoid a white or super-light neutral," Davin says. Have I convinced you yet? Refurbishing vintage furniture can be incredibly rewarding, both for its creativity and the sense of accomplishment it brings and it’s good for our environment . Here's an account of how you can transform yours into a functional piece: Structural Modifications The bottom of the dresser was not aesthetically pleasing and lacked character , so I removed it entirely. I crafted a new base with rounded edges and added new legs, giving the dresser a fresh, airy and sturdy foundation. Sanding To prepare the surface, I sanded it down using 80-grit sandpaper for the initial pass and finished with 220-grit for a smooth finish. Since parts of the dresser were veneer, I took care not to oversand, which could damage the delicate surface. Handle Upgrade I loved the original handles, but I needed something that would give it vintage look with a touch of contemporary. The brass cup handles was the way to go but they didn't fit the old holes. I filled in the old holes and drilled new ones to accommodate the handles, ensuring a seamless and stylish look. Staining and Sealing To stain and seal the dresser, I followed this process: 1. Watered-Down White Gripseal Sealer: Applied a coat and let it dry completely. 2. Followed with a sealer in Imbuia: This rich, dark stain added depth and character to the wood. 3. Final Touch: I took a wet cloth with some white sealer and lightly wiped the dresser, creating a subtle, layered effect. The result is a stunning piece that blends vintage charm with modern style, proving that with a bit of effort, you can breathe new life into old furniture. #reuse #recycle #repurpose #design #doityourself
