My son Clay Taylor returned from spending almost 2 months in Italy, helping out at my cousin Rita and her husband Antonio Cafiero's restaurant La Concha. His summer was supposed to be working at a luxury hotel in Bermuda, but as fate would have it those plans changes. What went from a disappointing moment turned into a chance for him to spend time with not only my cousin Rita and her husband, but her family and friends over the summer. As a kid, I spent the summer in Sorrento, helping out at another family business along with long days at the beaches in Sorrento and Capri. I was born in Italy; my mother was born in Naples and grew up in Sorrento where I still have over a dozen first cousins living from Naples to Positano. Clay may not have had the internship he had hoped for, but he got to connect with a part of our family we don't see often enough. If you are ever in the Sorrento area, I can't help but brag on the amazing award-winning restaurant Rita and Antonio have built right on the beach in Meta di Sorrento/ Alimuri along with their children Mario and Lorena and cousins Sal and Mariella. Their restaurant is called Ristorante La Conca where you will have one of the best meals of your life with a beautiful view across the bay of Naples toward Mt Vesuvius and the Isle of Capri.
