Two recent US Meat Connect events in Lima, Peru, and Santiago, Chile, brought together 13 importer/distributors and over 275 foodservice professionals. The program aimed to connect importers with potential buyers and showcase the versatility of U.S. beef and pork. Importers had booths to display products, and USMEF hosted operational presentations and tastings featuring U.S. red meat in local dishes. According to Euronews, one in twelve beers sold in Dutch supermarkets is now alcohol-free. The report highlights the key trends and positive developments happening in the Irish beer market in 2023 from the strong growth of non-alcohol beer driven by consumer demand and the great innovation and availability by drinks producers as they advertise and promote these products in a responsible manner to the falling per capita consumption levels, down 11% since 2019. Interesting to see the trend’s downward in consumption in Ireland compared to European countries especially since we now have the highest rate of excise and tax on most alcoholic drinks and the third-highest level of excise tax on beer.
