Driver CPC Changes: Progress or a Step Backward? 🤔 As the new DCPC changes roll out on 3rd December, there's a lot of chatter in the industry. One major sticking point is the shift to 10 sessions of 3.5 hours over five years instead of the traditional 5 full days. Here’s the reality many drivers are questioning: Disruption Doubled: Would drivers prefer to break their work routines over 10 separate days or stick to the current 5-day setup? For most, fewer disruptions to their schedules is key, making this change feel like more hassle than it’s worth. Cost Concerns: Will 3.5-hour sessions come with halved costs compared to a 7-hour day? Realistically, it’s unlikely. When admin, overheads, and trainer costs are factored in, providers might not find it viable to offer sessions under £20—a price point that would make the split training worthwhile. Administrative Burden: Both drivers and training providers face increased complexity. Is this additional burden worth it for the perceived flexibility? While the goal may be to offer more flexible options, it seems like this change could inadvertently create more headaches for everyone involved. Drivers need training that is practical, cost-effective, and minimally disruptive—not more hoops to jump through. What do you think? Yesterday my train was cancelled. Luckily Trainline notified me so I could change my plans - unfortunately my second train was also cancelled! Why I am telling this? Not too moan about how poor the train service is (things can break), but how important it is to notify your customers. This enabled me to work a bit longer and go to the station a bit later, not having to wait for more than 30 minutes. In this case the train was broken down. Could have been due to a software issue or just the train not working. But with software issues it's so important that you are proactive and notify people before they notice - and even better if you can fix the problem before it is actually a problem! This reminds me a bit of what Vitality is doing. They offer great perks and benefits for people who are active and healthy. But this scheme relies on a complex web of technology, systems, and integrations. And ofcourse thinks can break, which leads to users missing points. To tackle this Vitality will proactively contact when this happens, automatically adding the points and making sure customers are happy. #observability #software
