"Are you bored yet?" - A question I have heard a lot over the last 6 months since I stepped back from the traditional career path. The answer I usually give: "I've been able to keep pretty busy!" In fact, I've become the General Manager of our lives, responsible for the day to day, juggling several existing house projects, and preparing to close on a new 🏠 in 10 days. From organizing sub-contractors to personally executing tasks, the to-do list is endless. 📜 After the move, I'll dive into unpacking, settling in, and acclimating our two lively (and sensitive) puppies 🐕 🐕 to their new surroundings. Simultaneously, I'll wrap up projects at the old house, prepare the rental listing, and find suitable tenants – a process that typically takes about a month. In addition to these responsibilities, I wear multiple hats as a full-time house cleaner 🧤 , landscaper 🌳 , and chef 👩🍳 , finding solace in activities like gym sessions 💪 and tennis 🎾 amidst the chaos. It's a whirlwind of tasks that demand meticulous time management and communication skills. While the workload may seem different than before, I've discovered that my workplace skills remain as sharp as ever, offering a sense of reassurance. Although I'm open to returning to a traditional job in the future, for now, I cherish the opportunity to tackle diverse challenges and take pride in my accomplishments outside of an office setting 🏆 ❤️ #homerenovations #homeprojects #homerentals #housework #creativeproblemsolving #lotstodo

I managed 10+ Airbnb properties while working full-time at my W-2 job. Here are the 5 people on my dream team that did 90% of the work: 1. The Cleaner: 🧼 - They are the eyes and ears of my operation. - Ensures every surface sparkles and shines - Handles the deep cleaning after every guest Cost: $150-$250/clean 2. The Handyman: 🔧 - Fixes everything from leaky faucets to wobbly doorknobs - Always on-call for any emergencies - Keeps the properties in tip-top shape - Usually terrible at texting lol. Cost: $50-$150/visit. 3. The Pest Control Dude: 🐜 - Certified insect annihilator - Handles everything from sugar ants to roaches - Comes out 1-2x/month Cost: $80-$100/month 4. The Sexy Pool Guy: 🏊♂️ - Assists with regular pool maintenance. - Is on-call when my guest is angry about a single leaf in the pool. - Usually also in charge of my hot tub Cost: $150-$250/month 5. The Landscaper: 🌳 - Your property only gets one first impression. Landscapers make sure it’s a good one. - Trims, mows, and maintains the curb appeal of my property Cost: $50-$100/month I call this team my Airbnb Avengers. When I find a rockstar, I hold onto them for my dear life. This team can and will make or break your operation. Having recently relocated from Hawai'i to RI, I've observed a growing need for experienced professionals in property management roles such as Occupancy Specialist, Recertification Specialist, Assistant Property Managers, and Property Managers, especially in locations like Newport where the commute is less desirable. The challenge of filling these positions could be linked to factors like commute lengths, costs, and high housing expenses. Reflecting on my time in Hawai'i, where providing housing incentives proved beneficial for employers looking for propety management, I believe a similar strategy here in RI could attract and retain top talent. By offering housing perks, companies could not only simplify recruitment but also boost employee satisfaction and retention. A common belief might be that the high cost of living in Hawai'i is the primary reason for providing housing incentives. However, this is not entirely true as the cost of housing is not substantially different from RI cost-wise. As the rising trend of remote work and #workcation expands, so do the opportunities. I use remote work option because of my job in #digitalmarketing, but many location-indented jobs fit the concept. Based on my experience, I share some thoughts. Hope you will find them useful and motivational. 1️⃣ Job First If you are flexible on the location of your future living, start your search by exploring platforms like FlexJobs, Upwork, or even Indeed to find companies that offer remote job opportunities. Research companies are known for embracing remote work. If not fully remote, many companies follow the trend of workcation, such as mine Homelike. Currently, we have 60 days to work from anywhere in the world. Pretty exciting if you ask me, especially when combined with your vacation days. 2️⃣ But before applying Emphasize your remote work skills in your #cv #resume— communication skills, time management control, and self-motivation are the top soft skills you should have or work on. 3️⃣ Start #newtorking - virtually: Join LinkedIn Groups, explore people in your niche to connect with, attend virtual conferences, and don't forget to get in touch with people. Expressing yourself online will get noticed with time. 4️⃣ Write your content: LinkedIn is an ideal platform to showcase your skills. By using relevant hashtags, you will gain more meaningful impressions from people you want to network with. Naturally, a strong digital presence can catch the eye of remote employers too, but it's a long shot. 5️⃣ Or start the other way around: Explore in which city you would like to live.
