I did a Data In Motion Challenge! It's a little clunky, but baby steps. I answered most of the questions as well. Please clap 🙇♂️ 👨🎓 I'd like to get more into the formatting side of things but it's late. I'm considering using Chat GTP to guide me along. We'll see how that goes. I grew up in Baltimore so this is very interesting to me. I wasn't paying attention to the crime at the time although I had heard horror stories. See the link to my viz, answers (as many as I could get to tonight) and questions below. https://lnkd.in/eiF6wwHQ Trend Analysis: How have the overall crime rates in Maryland changed from 1975 to 2020? Identify any significant upward or downward trends. - It looks like all crime is trending downward by 2020 except for Murder and rape. Rape abruptly peaked in 2019 but appears to have gone down significantly. Crime Distribution: What are the most common types of crimes committed in Maryland over the years? How has the distribution of different crime types changed over time? - B&E was common abruptly peaked in 1980 but the rest of the types of crimes peaked in 1994 or 1995. Population Correlation: Is there a correlation between population size and crime rates in different jurisdictions? Does a larger population necessarily mean higher crime rates? - A larger population does not mean more crime. The data shows that in 1995, total crime peaks but population technically never peaks up to the present. Crime Hotspots: Identify crime hotspots. Which areas should be prioritized for increased policing and resource allocation? - Based strictly on lifetime crime, Baltimore county needs an increase of police resources but I can already tell what I've done wrong here. I needed to ad a year filter so we can take this at a year by year basis I figure.

Did you know May is #CoeliacAwarenessMonth? This month, we shine a light on coeliac disease, an autoimmune condition affecting roughly 1 in 100 people in the UK, where gluten consumption triggers an immune response damaging the small intestine. Unfortunately, many cases go undiagnosed for years, leading to a range of health problems. Why Should We Care? Raising awareness about coeliac disease is crucial for: - Early diagnosis: Recognising the symptoms (e.g., bloating, fatigue, diarrhoea, headaches, and so much more) and seeking medical advice can significantly improve quality of life for those with coeliac disease. - Greater understanding: Educating others about the challenges of living gluten-free fosters inclusivity and ensures access to safe food options in social settings and workplaces. - Supporting the coeliac community: Organisations like the Coeliac Society UK provide invaluable resources and support networks for people living with this condition. How Can You Get Involved? - Educate yourself: Visit the Coeliac Society UK website (https://lnkd.in/eXC6GH2) to learn more about the disease, its symptoms, and how to manage it effectively. - Spread awareness: Share this post or relevant information from the Coeliac Society UK to raise awareness among your network. - Support those living gluten-free: Whether it's a colleague, friend, or family member, being understanding and accommodating dietary restrictions can make a big difference. Together, we can all create a more informed and supportive environment for those living with coeliac disease.
