Nurse, Advocate, Navigator/ MHS, MSN, RN, PMH-BC, NEA-BC, CLNC, NCC / Healthcare and Legal Nurse Consultant
🏥 What a journey it's been from the sterile, high-pressure environment of a hospital to the sunny, laid-back atmosphere of poolside…⛱️ 🌐 While the roles may seem worlds apart, I'm learning that my mental health, nurse executive and legal nurse certifications have equipped me with a surprisingly versatile skill set! 👩🏫 🤯 I'm so amazed at how- and how often- my nursing process and human services systems thinking background proves invaluable outside of the hospital setting. 🏨 🌞 For example, this summer, for my new, collaborative community endeavor as a volunteer, self-appointed, self-titled “property manager tech”...🏢 …and, officially, “community pool attendant”. ⛑️ 🤔 Consider these points: Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Whether it's a medical emergency or a pool pump malfunction, the ability to quickly assess a situation, identify potential solutions, and implement a plan is essential. 💭 Leadership and Teamwork: Managing a property and staff is similar to leading a healthcare team. Effective communication, delegation, and collaboration are key to success.👨💼 Time Management and Organization: Balancing multiple tasks simultaneously is a daily challenge in both roles. Prioritizing responsibilities and staying organized is crucial. 🕘 Customer Service: Providing exceptional care to patients and residents requires a similar approach. Empathy, patience, and a focus on meeting needs are paramount. 🤜🤛 Risk Assessment and Safety: Ensuring the safety of patients and residents is a top priority. Identifying and consistently monitoring potential hazards as well implementing preventive measures is essential in both fields. 🦺 While I miss the adrenaline rush of inpatient treatment, I've found a fulfilling career path that allows me to utilize my skills in so many new and exciting ways.💡👏🏻 And who doesn't love editing a form or proposing the building of vestibules?!?!🖍✏️ 🖍See also🖍: https://lnkd.in/gzJEeW4J #nursetopropertymanager #unexpectedcareerpath #skillstransfer #poolsidelife #criticalthinking #leadership #customerservice #editor #safetyfirst #monitor #forms #communityhealth #volunteer #roadtojoy #wedogoodwork #youdontknowwhatyouknow #communitybuilding #publichealth #collaboration #tranferableskills #organizationalleadership #newproject

Are you tired of High Turnover and understaffing? WorkTaps' Employee Referral Platform Revitalizes Frontline Hiring in Eldercare, Delivery, Hospitality, Retail, Restaurants, QSRs and more!
In the realm of assisted living, the stakes of hiring decisions extend far beyond the boundaries of a conventional job. Here, we are entrusted with the profound responsibility of safeguarding and enhancing the lives of those in care. Our industry's hiring practices must reflect the gravity of this duty. We cannot afford to be penny-wise and pound-foolish, compromising the quality of care for perceived short-term savings. The consequences of inadequate hiring are not measured in mere dollars and cents but in the impact on human lives—the well-being of residents and the peace of mind of their families. We must continue to hire with discernment and foresight, recognizing that the ramifications of a poor hire can reverberate deeply, affecting not just the individual in question but the entire community we serve. Lives are indeed at stake, and with this knowledge comes a collective obligation to act wisely and compassionately in our hiring practices. Hiring is, at best, a high-stakes game of trying to guess correctly. #assistedliving #seniorliving #homecare

Civil Service Vacancies in California: 2022–2023 The specific occupations most affected by job vacancies in local government include positions in behavioral health and nursing. The high growth in demand for workers in these occupations, coupled with challenges in filling vacancies, significantly impacts public service delivery. Understaffing in these critical roles can lead to heavier workloads for existing employees, potentially resulting in burnout and increased turnover. This, in turn, further exacerbates staffing challenges and hampers the ability of local governments to effectively deliver vital services to the community. The shortage of workers in behavioral health and nursing roles can directly impact the quality and availability of essential services provided to residents, highlighting the urgent need to address these job vacancy challenges in the public sector. Hiring service technicians is easy. Most companies just don't want to put in the work. The workforce isn't going to magically produce qualified people who want to work for a company that no one has heard of. It should be a crime that the general public barely knows what steam is or how much it impacts the healthcare industry or food industry. We, the boiler industry, are responsible for that failure. We are too busy fixing our own problems that we forget we need to advocate for ourselves. Most companies in the industry lack an online presence and then wonder why no one is applying to the company. If the general public barely knows you exist, do not be surprised when the qualified people who would be great service techs go to general construction or other industries. Company websites and social media are a great way to let other people know what you do, but you have to be intentional about them. Posting a couple of photos here and there saying how you "handle all the best jobs" tells outsiders exactly nothing about the importance of the company. So start today and tell the real story of what your company does and how the work they do is helping the general public. Be consistent and vulnerable, and in 2 years, you will have people applying for jobs who would have never heard of the company before. Pro tip to be consistent? Hire a dedicated media person inside the company. It looks like a waste of money in the beginning, but the right person can dramatically change the company in 2 years if properly supported. It will not happen in 3 months. #boilers #steam #training
