The potential overruling of the #Chevron #doctrine by the #Supreme_Court could significantly redistribute power within the #U.S. regulatory framework. If Chevron is overturned, #judges would gain considerable influence, as they would assume the role of #interpreting #ambiguities in #statutes, a task #currently #undertaken by #administrative_agencies. This shift would also empower government lawyers and bureaucrats, who are deeply familiar with statutory technicalities. Conversely, Presidents, Congress, and policy experts would lose leverage.
If Chevron is overruled, judges will gain a lot of power. Presidents will lose much of their ability to shape regulation. Other winners include government lawyers, who will regain power from economists; and congressional staff, who control the precise wording of statutes. Here's why. https://lnkd.in/gzuYJw-b

With the Supreme Court overturning Chevron, State policy for the advancement and build out of clean power will be more important than ever. At the Federal level Congress will need to write legislation that is more detailed, clear and designed to cover future scenarios. This will be hard, but we can and must build diverse local and national coalitions to deliver a better, cleaner and more secure energy future for all Americans.

Pondering implications of overturning the Chevron doctrine on local regulation In the U.S. we now wait for the full fallout of the U.S. Supreme Court overturning the so-called “Chevron doctrine” and thus curtailing U.S. agency power in regulation. I’m sure we will hear many thoughts in the near future about the consequences. I am anxious to learn what this may mean for local regulation. For instance, to what extent will this decision filter down into state legislatures and result in state bills that limit local regulation?
