While primary education is officially free and compulsory in Cameroon, there are still issues of affordability related to additional costs such as uniforms, books, and transportation, hindering equal educational opportunities for all.
Non-profit organizations can combat affordability challenges in primary education in Cameroon through various initiatives:
1. Scholarships: Non-profits can give financial aid to students, covering school fees, uniforms, books, and transportation.
2. Educational Supplies: Donating textbooks, school materials, and uniforms directly to students helps ease financial burdens.
3. Infrastructure Improvement: Investing in school facilities creates a better learning environment and reduces financial pressure on families.
4. Community Education: Non-profits can educate communities about the importance of education, especially for girls, to overcome cultural barriers.
5. Microfinance Support: Providing financial assistance to parents empowers them to afford educational expenses.
6. Advocacy for Change: Non-profits can advocate for policies that address the core issues, ensuring truly accessible and free primary education.

You may know that I have been working on improving how we educate our youth for several decades. This effort has been focused on making my home state of Missouri’s k-12 system much more innovative and forward thinking. I am very pleased that those commitments and that focus have expanded across the world. Many thanks to Microfinancing Partners in Africa, an organization that I helped start many years ago, for creating this scholarship program in several African countries. You may ask why a microfinancing organization is getting involved with educating youth. I see it everyday here in the states. A good deal of attention has been paid to adult training and education when looking to address our workforce development challenges. In fact, the work needs to start much earlier. When young people learn the basics of reading, math, the sciences they are building a powerful foundation for future learning and skills development, whether in skilled trades, professional services or becoming an entrepreneur. Sr. Toni Temporiti understands this and is creating impact at the foundational level. Please consider supporting this outstanding effort.
In East Africa, the average annual cost of primary school is just $300, while secondary school ranges between $600 and $1000 for tuition, room, board, fees, and uniforms. It’s humbling to realize that such a relatively small amount can make a life-changing difference for a child.
This year, we have many students in need of support for their education. By visiting our donation page, you can select a student whose story inspires you to give, or you can make a general donation that we will apply to a student in need. https://ow.ly/wRrJ50SHCmn#education#scholarship#africa#school#backtoschool

Funds provided to assist with university and school fees for underprivileged students from the southern and coastal parts of Tanzania.
Wentworth Africa Foundation believes that sponsoring students through education will have a “multiplier effect” meaning, that when an individual is given education, they are better equipped to contribute to society and can in turn help to educate others through sharing knowledge and skills.
Furthermore, educated individuals are more likely to participate in civic and political activities, which may lead to better governance and decision making: a mutual benefit to society.

It's just some school in Africa.
Who cares?
𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆. In just 4 days, an incredible community has rallied together, raising nearly €5,000 to support the children of Terra Boa, Sal, Cape Verde.
These kids face challenges most of us can't imagine, yet their spirit remains unbreakable.
Today, I'm proud to share a video that tells their story. Conceived, outlined, produced, and edited to shed light on the harsh realities they endure every day:
- Learning in an active construction zone
- Limited access to clean drinking water
- Constantly surrounded by swarms of flies
- Daily exposure to mental and physical trauma
Even better, a generous private donor has pledged to match all donations if we can reach €10,000. This means every euro you contribute now has double the impact. 💪
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿?
The first €30,000 collected will go toward building a roof over the centre to prevent flooding from the heavy rainfall. Additional (much needed) upgrades include:
- A soundproof therapy room to allow the children to process trauma and hardships
- A secure maintenance room to safely house the tools and materials needed to upkeep the facility
