Just as you cannot make heaven wait indefinitely, neither should you delay your estate planning. Last week, I met with a client who is a medical doctor. GPs tend to make excellent clients for us financial planners by the way, and he is no exception. He enjoys investing and has placed investments both directly and in financial products in SZ and RSA. Four years ago, I observed that his estate was substantial and likely to grow further, so I recommended he consider estate planning. Understandably, he was initially uncomfortable with the idea, just like many people are to think about anything that involves their own death. We, therefore, left the conversation hanging. When he expressed readiness to begin estate planning last week but was unsure where to start, I shared our Estate Planning Guide (see screenshot below) with him and assured him that I will be with him in every step as his financial planner. When you engage us for any of your financial planning needs, you are guaranteed attention, competence and professionalism. The CFP® mark is the global standard in financial planning, and with us, you have this level of expertise right at your doorstep.

If you’re a financial advisor, you know your clients don’t typically state their true values and long-term goals outright… but an estate planning discussion can encourage them to share. Engaging in estate planning conversations reveals deep insights into your clients' motivations, aspirations, and personal histories. These discussions go beyond numbers, helping you understand what truly matters to them. By exploring the “why” behind their financial decisions, you help them think about their long-term goals and legacy. Whether it's securing their children's education, achieving dreams they feared they couldn’t realize, or supporting their families, these conversations provide clarity and direction. Understanding your clients' deeper motivations fosters a stronger, more personal connection. This not only makes your advisory role more impactful but also builds trust and empowers you to offer tailored advice that resonates with your aspirations and values. After all, estate planning isn’t just about managing assets; it’s about understanding and supporting your clients' true values and long-term visions. My recommendation? Use these meaningful conversations to surface your clients’ deeper drivers. With these insights, you’ll be able to build lasting relationships and help guide your clients towards a secure and fulfilling financial future.
