@newearthwondersschool ・・・ Entrepreneurship learning is a unique component of our curriculum, preparing students to be global citizens and leaders. The NEW School’s Gardening Cooperative is a community-driven initiative aimed at promoting gardening and encouraging young minds to connect with nature. 👨🌾🌳✂️☘️ Our cooperative includes students, parents, and teachers who share a passion for gardening and a commitment to creating a healthier and more resilient future. Our students held a plant sale, with proceeds going towards enhancing our NEW School. A wide range of plants were grown and nurtured with care by our young gardeners. Our annual planting and gardening activity is an integral part of our education philosophy, and we believe that it is an excellent opportunity for children to learn about the natural world and develop important skills. Our plants are grown from only organic seeds and using the best organic soil mix, ensuring that they are healthy, nutritious, and free from harmful chemicals. Our plants are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our young gardeners. 🌱 #EntrepreneurshipEducation #RealWorldLearning #HandsOnWorkshops #FutureLeaders #GlobalCitizens #SelfStartingLeaders #ExperientialLearning #StudentEmpowerment #LeadershipDevelopment #InnovativeEducation #EntrepreneurialMindset #RealLifeSkills #CareerReadiness #LeadershipSkills #GlobalEducation #EmpoweredYouth #PracticalLearning #FutureEntrepreneurs #ChristCenteredSchool #EtobicokeSchools #FaithBasedLearning #ChristianEducation #EmpoweredYouth #FutureLeaders #EducationalExcellence #YouthLeadershipDevelopment #PrivateSchoolToronto #TheNEWSchool #TheNEWSchoolToronto #EmpoweringStudents #InnovativeEducationToronto

Don't wait for tomorrow, take action today! Go Green Kids Worldwide, Inc., is a curriculum for life. Teaching gardening and nature appreciation art activities to children at an early age has been shown to have significant positive impacts on their development, both in terms of connectivity to nature and overall well-being. Children's Environmental Behavior: Research shows that early exposure to nature through activities like gardening significantly increases a child's likelihood of developing pro-environmental behaviors later in life. A study published in Environmental Education Research found that children who engaged in gardening were more likely to care about and engage in activities that protect the environment as adults. Emotional Well-being: A study published in Frontiers in Psychology in 2018 revealed that children who regularly engaged in nature-related activities, including gardening, reported higher levels of well-being and lower levels of emotional distress. This connection to nature also fosters a sense of responsibility and empathy towards the environment. Start today! #kids #kidsactivities #earth #hope #kind #gifts #gardening #curriculum

The teacher’s role for engagement in #foraging and #gardening activities in #kindergarten | Open Access Veronica Bergan, Maritha Berger Nylund, Ida Lervik Midtbø & Bård Henry Landsem Paulsen 68-82 | DOI: 10.1080/13504622.2023.2181271 Abstract Early childhood education provides an important arena for fostering valuable habits and practices for sustainability. This paper contributes to understanding the educator’s role within early childhood environmental education in foraging and gardening practices. What pedagogical approaches does the teacher provide to foster the children’s participation, engagement, and learning in such activities? To investigate this question, we used a qualitative approach, including video and on-site interviews with kindergarten teachers during foraging or gardening activities. We also analyzed semi-structural interviews and collected field notes for in-depth views and reflections from the teachers. The qualitative data were analyzed using reflective thematic analysis. The data analysis suggests three themes that exemplify hallmarks of the teacher’s role: (1) facilitating adventurous experience, (2) child-centered communication, and (3) building collective knowledge and skills. The implications for the future are discussed with respect to the kindergarten teacher’s pivotal function in supporting children as eco-citizens for sustainability. The data show that the kindergarten teachers’ over-arching role is to take leadership of fostering engagement and learning for everyone involved. #earlychildhoodeducation #ecocitizens #teacher #sustainability #SDG4 https://lnkd.in/ga3ebcTM

🌱Compost Consultant at Blue Borage, creating circular garden systems, sharing how good gardeners live and breathe circular economy principles on a daily basis. 🌏 Biodynamic & 🐝 bee-friendly 🌻
How does reading, writing and maths relate to composting? SO many ways! I’m looking forward to exploring this topic with schools this year, and will be using this ‘before’ photo of an inner city workplace garden as a case study. This three tiered raised bed is 6.6m long. The top tier is 16cm wide The middle tier 11cm The bottom tier 10cm First question — what’s the area, and how many plants can I fit into this space? Next up will be to measure the depth of the planters and calculate how much soil it holds. In reality I don’t usually calculate all of this, I just start planting, and fix the soil as I go. Would this maths exercise inspire some children to later design garden planters, or optimise a space to grow more food? Or is it just helping teachers tick a box? Maybe it helps to budget the right amount of money for plants and soil? I’m keen to hear from any school teachers here on LinkedIn as to how this compost consultant can help tick several boxes at once. #Literacy #Gardening 🌱🌱🌱 Blue Borage: good food for all, grown in healthy soil. Inspirational Teacher Quote 4 "A teacher plants the seeds of knowledge that will grow forever." - Lyndon B. Johnson Teaching is akin to gardening; it involves planting seeds to witness growth. The goal is to ignite students' curiosity by establishing connections that internally motivate them. The aim is to cultivate lifelong learners who extend their interests beyond the classroom. It requires selflessness to lay the groundwork for their continuous development. To excel as a teacher is to be a visionary for your students. Let’s Get It!
