Tomorrow is the Ball State University Cardinal Job Fair! The Cardinal Job Fair holds a special place in my heart because it’s where I met Marques Fisher back in 2009 (or 2008). Even though we didn’t have a job to offer…just a free student membership, that connection turned into something much more valuable. To this day, I tell students about Marques and how intentional he was about his involvement with the Indiana CPA Society. He didn’t just sign up as a student member—he jumped in, attending events, volunteering, and building connections. I encourage every student to attend recruiting events like this, not just for the potential job offers, but to meet people and build relationships. Engage with the professionals you meet, follow up, and if they offer to have coffee or a chat—take them up on it! Your future career isn’t just about landing a job; it’s about building a network. So, there is no better time to start than now. If you need a pep talk before an interview or event, Anyah E. Cork & I are here for you! #futureCPA #relationships

Earlier today…another employment weekly job fair at The Cherry Hill. It was a sigh of relief to notice new fresh new exhibitors/recruiters in attendance. Another great thing regarding the fair….even though there were the same companies that exhibited/recruited as previous job fairs it was a sigh of relief to see new individuals. While leaving the fair developed the mentality of fresh new faces/new individuals to meet, a sign of potential of new things on the horizon/the potential that good things are on their way as far as VoiceOver opportunities.

A Reverse Job Fair? What a fantastic idea! I've worked with job seekers with disabilities for 15 years and job fairs can be very intimidating. With candidates facing a range of barriers from accessibility concerns to social anxiety, it can be a daunting task to navigate up and down rows of booths hoping to submit some resumes and network with employers among crowds of competing applicants. This reverse model allows for candidates to establish themselves in one spot, settle in, set up any adaptive technology they use and feel more confident with interested employers approaching them, rather than having to jockey for position and hope to be acknowledged by a rep from their company of interest. I'm sure it will also be a welcome change for employers who can enjoy the freedom to move around the space, pause for breaks and leave when they have met with everyone they'd like to speak with, instead of being stuck behind a booth all day. Well done PEI Team! What an innovative approach!
🚀 Your Next Hire Awaits! 🚀 Join us at the CCRW & MentorAbility Atlantic Canada Reverse Job Fair, where jobseekers take the spotlight to showcase their skills and talents in a comfortable setting. Unlike traditional job fairs, employers explore booths and engage in meaningful conversations to meet their hiring needs. Let’s create a more diverse and inclusive workforce in PEI! 🌟 Both employer and participants are invited to register here 👉 https://buff.ly/3z70gaw

Any free continuing education offer with Jennifer Gonzalez, let me be the one to tell you if you don't know already -- Clear your schedules! Don't miss it :) When I was getting my credential, it was Jennifer who first helped me understand the critical transition between learning to read and reading to learn. As I began teaching, I discovered there is a parallel discernment we as #EduCreators (love that word, genius Christel Guillen!!) make daily between thinking to write and writing to think: there are editing ("thinking to write") moments, and there are creative moments ("writing to think"). In all classrooms, there is room to support both at differentiated levels for all students--we just have to keep equipping ourselves and pushing education further, higher, and wider. I hope this is a packed house -- excited for this!!!
