Re: Company offsites - question for anyone who this resonates with and would like to chime in please 😀 Offsites are jam packed with fun and excitement. Bringing together a largely remote company who do such great work together is a lot like meeting up with old friends you haven't seen in a while. At Nory our offsites usually comprise individual team workshops, company wide workshops and a lot of fun team building activities. Right now I'm doing a deep dive on epic company wide workshops (for 40 people). We are looking for exercises that touch on the following: - Getting Nory team members informed and bought in for the next 18 months of our journey - Getting everyone on the same page. We have multiple teams who strive for the same mission - building the OS the restaurant industry deserves. How does a product engineer know what a CSM's top priorities are when they join a call with a new customer for the first time? How does a sales rep know what our product team considers when deciding which prospect requests do (and don't) make it onto our roadmap? Cross org understanding and communication decides whether we are disparate energies going in our own directions, or one team tackling challenges together. So what do I want to know? Have you ever done an epic team building exercise that brought everyone onto the same page? If so, I'd love to hear from you, be it sharing an article or a quick chat! I'd be super grateful for all inputs, and would be more than happy to return the favour in any way I can :)

Prime Day is only 2 weeks away - are you prepared? Don't worry if you don't feel like you can 'sit back and relax', because well…you can’t 🙂 While Prime Day prep should really get underway at the start of Q2, that doesn't mean there aren't still opportunities to optimize campaigns and make tweaks to strategy to ensure a successful event. I have given this a lot of thought and have identified the 3 areas of opportunities brands still have to max out their Prime Day opportunities. The bonus here is that these are tactics that will help you win the year...not just Prime Day season. Click the link in the comments to read the full article.

Strategic Thinker & Social Architect | Leading HR Initiatives and Building Lean, Inclusive and High-Performing Teams
Summertime slowdown...where? On the drive home from Costco a few days ago, I was reflecting on all the events and outings I'd been on in the last 3 weeks. I wondered what proportion of those were career-related, and so I figured I'd share a quick summary below. I was surprised to see that the split was relatively equal between my 3 categories of career (networking & development), social (outings with or initiated by friends) and personal (things my partner and I put on the agenda). 📊 If I was more inclined, I might look at assigning 'level of effort' ratings to each, to see which one had the most drain on my relatively introverted brain; and duration, to see where my time was spent the most. Alternatively, I could look at the time series overall to determine where the peaks and valleys of my events were. 🤷♀️ The chart does little to show the nuance within days, the side of desk tasks or the everyday errands; but it was fun to consider how I maintain a work-life balance, and made me proud of all the time I put toward professional development and nurturing relationships. 🗝 What's your split? 🤔

Whether in business or in your personal life, keep people in your circle who educate you on new things! My circle talks about business, careers & life…not BS & drama! Find new opportunities to learn…All. The. Time. When I pivoted from tech to the wine & spirits industry, I only knew what I thought I enjoyed to drink. I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to learn so much about the industry in the last 1.5 years - taking advantage of all of the opps presented to me. I’ve learned how the industry operates (CA is way different from TX!); how internal teams work to build the business and keep our suppliers happy; what it’s like working with the buyers at stores; how hard the work is of our field employees & portfolio managers; & gained way more knowledge than I could have ever imagined! I’ll tell you this, there’s more behind those wine & spirits displays than you know! I have so much more respect for our field employees because they work hard to make big things happen! Thank you to all of my peers and colleagues at Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits for helping me grow! I look forward to what else is in store for me here. And if anyone wonders...the industry really is more than just knowing WHAT I like to drink! #growth #learning #wineandspirits #celebrate2024

🚨 LENGTHY POST ALERT (but worth reading!) 🚨 Given we rarely take time to stop and reflect on our successes due to “busy-ness”, I couldn’t help putting this post out into the wild! This week, it’s been made clearer to me more than ever how utterly brilliant my team are! Much of our work can go unnoticed and fade into the background (as it isn’t always customer facing work, therefore we don’t have exciting activity to showcase), however the processes and planning our team delivers is critical to much of our successes across events and customer facing comms. I wanted to call-out a few things that my fab team are delivering… - Leah Salvin has done an amazing job leading the business to success with our recent August BH event (+14% vs target) and through the recent Prime period 👏 - Daniella Foster delivering our first ever involvement in McDonalds Monopoly and has been acing the planning of Christmas at Currys since April (Lots more to come, watch this space! 👀) 🎄 - Lauren Purdie not only supporting the wider brand team on projects, but also leading on our planning for 25/26 (including new innovative ideas coming). All as well as wrapping up our Q1 period and capturing key learnings to ensure we deliver improvements for next year 🗓️ - Jess Varley not only getting stuck into her first quarter of planning after a few months of joining (and bossing it), but also challenging and pushing for improvements at every step of the process 👊 - Rhys Sleeman stepping up and not only owning some exciting events for us coming up, but also masterminding some really exciting plans for next year (again, watch this space 👀)👌 All of this is on top of countless initiatives our team delivers that contributes towards improving ways of working, culture and ultimately making lives easier for 150+ colleagues in CCO. As we get into Christmas, we won’t have lots of time to reflect so I took this chance! A huge personal thank you to my fab team who continue to impress and deliver huge amounts of (often unseen) value for Currys! This also applies to Thomas Welland and his team Shannagh Vella Tom Sutton Georgie Snape Center Kate Taylor who also do some fantastic, but often unseen work 🙌

748 DAYS.... Let me share with you my rollercoaster tale of persistence and trust-building. Strap in, because I've got a story that will leave you inspired and motivated to never give up. On January 19, 2022, we delivered a pitch presentation for a Taco Bell portfolio to a new client we were in the early innings of building a relationship with. It was well-received, but the opportunity never materialized because the tenant exercised its ROFR and acquired the properties. Little did I know that this would be the start of an extraordinary journey, filled with ups and downs, challenges, and countless hours of dedication. From the very beginning, I made it a point to stay in touch with my client regularly. Whether it was a quick check-in call or sharing valuable insights about the market, I ensured that I remained top-of-mind throughout the process. I sent them comps. I sent them recent successes of our team closing Taco Bells around the country. I sent them Taco Bell to their offices for lunch. I sent them pictures of me eating Taco Bell – Please get a laugh from the picture below. I flew down to Texas to have dinner with them to discuss their needs and dreams. It wasn’t and isn’t just about business for me. I genuinely like to invest time to truly understand my clients’ vision, and together, we navigate the complexities of the market. Then we finally got our shot – We were engaged to sell these two Taco Bells at the end of last year. Built the best team on the field with Jason DeWitt, Jeffrey Cicurel, Alex Geanakos, and Will Bowater. They are unstoppable and produced superb outcomes! So, what's the key takeaway from my 748-day odyssey? It's this: success in real estate, or any industry for that matter, is built on trust, perseverance, and genuine human connection. It's about staying in touch, listening, empathizing, and going the extra mile to understand your client's needs. It's about forging relationships that withstand the test of time. Today, as we celebrate the culmination of this long and arduous journey, we want to thank our client for placing their trust in us and joining us on this incredible ride. Thank you and to many more! #trustbuilding #perseverancepaysoff #nevergiveup #buildingconnections #nnn #saleleaseback

"Dont dwell on the past" Fair. Butttttttt retroactively looking back at your past has to be one of the greatest drivers of change. If you are a rep or a manager and not looking back at your week, month, quarter - you are missing out. On a weekly basis: - Did I hit my metrics? Calls/emails/meetings - Did I hit my weekly quota? - Did I move each account forward? - (Subjective) What wen't well? / What didn't go well? On a monthly basis: - Did I hit my monthly metrics? - Did I hit my monthly quota? - Did I create enough opportunities? - (Subjective) What do I want to continue doing? / What do I want to stop doing? / What do I want to START doing? Also run for the quarter. Blocking time for this every Friday has been a game changer to go into the following week/month/quarter. Always stop and look back to create a better future.

Should a promotion count as a promotion if it doesn't come with a raise - aka 'dry promotion'? "Also known as a no-raise promotion, a dry promotion is when a worker gets an upgraded title and more job responsibilities, but without an upgrade in compensation. The trend isn't new, but tends to resurface when the economy falters, according to a recent Wall Street Journal article noting that the number of employers offering people new job titles in lieu of commensurate raises has increased 5% since 2018, to 13% in 2024. " How have you responded to a 'dry promotion'? https://lnkd.in/ecwXUEx4
Congrats, you just got a "dry promotion" — no raise included
