Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month. The theme for 2024 is Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together. My family and I proudly trace our roots back to Mexico, and we made the life-changing decision to relocate to the United States about twenty years ago. Our cultural customs and traditions are intricately interwoven into the fabric of our identities, and we celebrate the wealth of heritage they encompass. From the flavorsome richness of our cuisine and the vibrancy of our traditional dances to the lyrical beauty of our language, every aspect is steeped in our family's history. Our core belief in prioritizing family above all else is a testament to the deep-seated values that are dear to us. When it comes to Hispanics, family plays a central role in our lives. Our devotion to our families is deeply ingrained, and this often results in an unwavering sense of solidarity within the community. I think it's important to acknowledge the exceptional ability of many individuals with Hispanic heritage to prioritize the needs of the group over their own. This selfless quality is especially valuable in a leadership role. I strongly believe that organizations can benefit immensely from having leaders who are deeply in tune with the needs of their team members, colleagues, and customers. When leaders demonstrate this level of selflessness, they are able to form stronger connections and nurture a sense of community, which is particularly crucial in today's often disconnected work environments. This approach to leadership can truly transform the workplace into a more cohesive and supportive environment.

As a first-generation Cuban American, Hispanic Heritage Month is more than just a celebration of culture; it’s a reflection of the sacrifices and dreams of those who came before me. My family’s journey to the U.S. was filled with hope, resilience, and an unbreakable will to create a better life—values that continue to guide me every day. Growing up, I watched my grandparents and parents navigate a new country, often caught between two worlds. They taught me that our heritage is not just something we carry, but something that empowers us. It’s in the way we approach challenges with tenacity, in how we prioritize family and community, and in the pride we take in hard work, no matter the obstacles. This month, I’m not just celebrating my Cuban heritage, but the power of possibility. Being the bridge between my family’s immigrant roots and the opportunities I’ve pursued in America has shaped my understanding of success—success that isn’t just personal, but collective. In a time when diversity in the workplace is central to workplace culture, my heritage reminds me that different perspectives are the engine of innovation. Hispanic culture, with its rich history of art, music, and storytelling, teaches us the importance of celebrating every voice (not just the loudest). So this Hispanic Heritage Month, I reflect my family's perseverance, and the power of embracing where you come from…because it's this foundation that has fueled my journey forward. Let’s continue to amplify the voices of all those who make our communities and workplaces stronger, more vibrant, and filled with possibility. #HispanicHeritageMonth #FirstGenPride #CubanAmerican Corvus Strategic Advisors

As a proud #latina I am excited to share more about #HispanicHeritageMonth! Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month: A Legacy of Culture, Innovation, and Resilience 😎 Hispanic Heritage Month, observed from September 15 to October 15, is a time to honor and celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of individuals and communities whose roots trace back to Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. The chosen dates are significant, as they coincide with the independence anniversaries of several Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Chile. 🎉 The Hispanic and Latino community is not monolithic. It is a mosaic of cultures, languages, traditions, and histories that span continents. From the Caribbean’s vibrant music and dance to the Andean folklore of South America, the influence of Hispanic culture is woven into the fabric of everyday life in the U.S. and globally. In the arts, Hispanic and Latino creators have long played a vital role. Visual artists like Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, writers like Gabriel García Márquez and Isabel Allende, and musicians like Celia Cruz and Carlos Santana have created works that continue to inspire generations worldwide. These contributions are not limited to the arts, however, as Hispanic leaders have made their mark in fields like science, politics, sports, and technology. Hispanic-owned businesses are one of the fastest-growing sectors in the U.S. economy. According to the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, there are over 4.7 million Hispanic-owned businesses in the United States, contributing more than $800 billion annually to the economy. These businesses range from small family-owned ventures to large multinational corporations, reflecting the entrepreneurial spirit of the community. Hispanic Heritage Month is not just about reflecting on the past but also looking ahead to the future, one where Hispanic voices and stories will continue to inspire and uplift. It’s a celebration of the undeniable influence of Hispanic culture in shaping the past, present, and future, while recognizing the challenges yet to be addressed in pursuit of equity and inclusion. This month, let us all celebrate the rich diversity and resilience of the Hispanic community and recognize the vital role it plays in shaping a more inclusive, prosperous future for everyone. Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! 🎊 🎈 #latinos #celebrate

🌟 Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month: The Power of Comunidad 🌟 As we continue our journey through Hispanic Heritage Month, I want to highlight a cornerstone of our culture that resonates deeply with me—Comunidad. This word goes beyond just “community”; it embodies a sense of togetherness, support, and an unbreakable bond that we share with one another. In the Hispanic and Latinx cultures, comunidad is the heartbeat that unites us, whether we’re gathered around a table sharing a meal or supporting each other’s dreams and aspirations. It’s about showing up, celebrating successes, and lifting each other up during challenging times. 🌱 🔹 Fun Fact: Did you know that the concept of comunidad has been a driving force behind some of the most influential movements in history, from civil rights to arts and culture? Our shared values have paved the way for change, innovation, and progress. Let’s celebrate comunidad—that special sense of unity and support that makes our heritage so vibrant. And remember, the strength of our community lies not just in numbers, but in the connections we foster and the love we give. 💪❤️ How does comunidad shape your life or work? Share your thoughts below and let’s keep this celebration going! 🎉👇 #HispanicHeritageMonth #Comunidad #TogetherWeRise #DiversityAndInclusion #BringingItAllTogether #LoveMeAFunFact

Happy September 16th! Hispanic Heritage month is upon us, a compelling call to celebrate our culture! Many times I have been asked by businesses how to leverage this time to connect with their Hispanic consumers and prospects. For me, it is very simple. DON'T wait until September to do something, but DO celebrate more during this time and highlight what you know! Cultural insights are easier and easier to find these days. Focus on connecting through dimensions of culture that work withing your industry and products/services: Gender, Collectivism, Wealth, Health, Religion, Leadership, Language, Locus of Control, Time Orientation, etc. Connect with agencies and consultants who can help you to create a long term plan and perspective, and leave Cinco de Mayo and Heritage Month to amp up what you already have! I'd like to know what you are doing for this celebration! Drop a line in the comment section :)) #hispanic #hispanicheritagemonth #hispanicmarketing #multiculturalmarketing

As we celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, it's important to honor and uplift the rich cultural contributions of the Hispanic community while doing so with respect and intention. Here are some meaningful ways to celebrate without engaging in cultural appropriation: ✨Support Hispanic-owned businesses by shopping locally and online, helping to empower and uplift entrepreneurs within the community. ✨Take time to educate yourself about Hispanic history, culture, and contributions through books, documentaries, and podcasts that reflect authentic experiences. ✨Attend authentic cultural events hosted by Hispanic communities, such as festivals, performances, and art exhibits, to experience and appreciate the vibrant culture firsthand. ✨Highlight and amplify Hispanic voices by sharing the work of Latino/a/e artists, writers, activists, and leaders on social media and in conversations. ✨Consider volunteering or donating to Hispanic organizations and causes that work toward social equity, justice, and community well-being. ✨Respectfully explore traditional foods by dining at Hispanic-owned restaurants or by trying authentic recipes, recognizing the history and traditions behind the dishes. ✨Engage with the Spanish language by learning a few phrases or taking the opportunity to practice, as a way to connect with the culture respectfully. ✨Show respect for cultural symbols by avoiding the use of traditional clothing or items as costumes or fashion, unless you have personal or cultural ties.
