🌟 The Best Technical Solution Isn't Enough🌟 In the world of technology, we often focus on creating the most advanced solutions. But here's the reality: You can develop the best technical solution in the world, but if it doesn't address the user's problems, it won't be perceived as valuable. Understanding user needs is crucial. It's not just about the technology; it's about how it enhances the user experience and solves real challenges. Let's prioritize empathy and user-centric design in our innovations! 💡✨ #UserExperience #TechForGood #EmpathyInDesign #Innovation

I’ve noticed a fairly common trend where product teams will prioritise feature work over consistent UX improvements from a design system. While features are really important and have direct, measurable impact, UX is equally important but harder to quantify. If you add more rooms with good features to a house but with growing similar snags/issues and bad decor — eventually, it’s much harder to fix, people don’t want to stay/buy and you blindly don't necessarily know why. It’s the same for products. Whilst Product looks for efficiency and scalability so features are delivered quick to move the needle, Design systems aim for quality and consistency across a product which takes more considerable time because of the size of change. To balance speed, quality and consistency, I believe in a few core elements for success: 👉 A design system team focusing solely on high-quality consistent components and patterns to enable efficiency across features and products. 👉 An adoption or foundational team that ensures the design system is implemented seamlessly, layed on a strong foundation. 👉 Product teams that strike a balance between feature development and scalable, systematic thinking so shared flows and pattern align 👉 Close collaboration between design system managers and data analysts to track measurements like efficiency gains, accessibility scores, adoption numbers, identifying pain points etc 👉 Shared visions between product and design to align on priorities and roadmaps to make sure consistency, quality and efficiency is balanced fairly 👉 Closing feedback loops and strong Design System project management to ensure priorities are met and there’s no blockers/issues ensuring both quality and speed is being met. 👉 The rise of AI-driven design systems, creating new levels of efficiency and consistency through automation, predictive analysis, predefined patterns, automated testing and much much more. By focusing across these areas, I believe products will benefit in the future. There will be faster feature delivery balanced with design consistency and quality — ultimately improving business growth. #designsystems #productgrowth #productmanagement

I remember the late nights fueled by caffeine and hours of pacing back and forth at my coworking space. The countless tweaks to my homepage, the hours poured into one social media post, and the unwavering belief in my brilliant idea. But when I shared my creation with the world, the silence was deafening. Had I failed? Or was this just bad luck? This isn't a unique story. Many entrepreneurs, myself included, have poured their hearts and souls into creations that, despite seemingly perfect market research and tireless marketing, fail to resonate with users. Why the disconnect? It often boils down to assumptions. We build based on what we think people want—but fail to ask real people. We spend months perfecting features nobody uses and overlooking crucial pain points staring us right in the face. What I have learned in the past year though, is that while luck may have more sway than I'd like to attribute to success, I can use insights gained by talking to real people as my competitive advantage. It's not about avoiding failure, it's about learning from it. It's about saving yourself the heartbreak of a missed connection and the wasted time and resources of building something no one truly needs. It's about building smarter, not harder, with the end-user's voice as your guiding light. And maybe—if we're lucky—we can build something they love.
