Derek outlines the importance of building trust and a relationship when new players join his team. This is the exact thing new players should be focusing on when joining a new team. This starts when you attend your first camp, and when you meet a coach for the first time. It's never too early to start building that relationship and trust. A strong relationship with your coach can lead to more opportunities within the team and in a camp setting a better chance of securing a spot.
With the NHL Draft wrapping up and Free Agency around the corner, it's that time of the year where new players are joining teams. Detroit Red Wings Head Coach, Derek Lalonde, shares how important it is to establish trust right from the beginning when building a new relationship.

I’ve never been targeted with a paid ad for The Savannah Bananas. 🍌 I haven’t seen their content sponsored in my Instagram, X, Facebook, or LinkedIn feeds. This is the power of your brand. This is the might of earned. This is the movement created by social. Only fools forego the long-term impacts of investing in brand, culture, and connection for the temporary boosts of paid media. Don’t ask me. True leadership often involves resilience, creativity, and the ability to adapt to challenges. Strong leaders will find ways to navigate obstacles, inspire their teams, and achieve their goals, even in difficult situations. This mindset is what often sets successful leaders apart—they focus on solutions and persevere until they reach their objectives.

Bill Bellichek was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, Nick Saban was his defensive coordinator. THEY WERE BOTH FIRED ‼️ Bellichek went on to win 6 Super Bowls. Saban went on to win 7 NCAA national championships. Bellichek and Saban were NOT the problem. The Browns front office and culture were the problem. Someones inability to value your gifts, does not diminish your gifts. Go prove them wrong 🔥

WHAT DO KLIFF KINGSBURY AND GROUNDHOGS HAVE IN COMMON ? When Kliff Kingsbury joined the Commanders as their offensive coordinator, he never imagined that one day his offense might be called the Kingsbury Groundhog Offense. Kingsbury’s scheme, executed brilliantly by Jayden Daniels and his teammates, deserves its own brand name, because it’s much more ingenious than a generic Run Pass Option. It features a seriously good running attack that establishes the passing game and four pass options that make it incredibly hard to defend. Similarly, when Groundhogs construct their dens, they have one main entrance and four additional exits, so they are also hard to contain. In fact, Groundhogs is a championship name for the team. It honors the legacy of the Hogs who led the Redskins to three Super Bowl Championships. And it embodies the Kingsbury offensive scheme with a powerful Ground Game anchored by an O-Line just like the Hogs and an explosive Passing Attack. I like the name Groundhogs so much that I registered it with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. So it’s ready to go, when Josh Harris and company give it the paws up. Hail to the Groundhogs! Hail Victory! Run or pass and score we want a lot more! Fight for old D.C. ! #WASHINGTONCOMMANDERS #NFL #JOSHHARRIS #KLIFFKINGSBURY #JAYDENDANIELS
