How willl you use the time that AI will free up for you? AI will free up our time to do better things not only more things. This article made me think about how we will invest the time that AI will free for us. 1. Innovative Work Models: The idea that AI could lead to shorter workweeks is an encouraging sign of how technology might further revolutionize our work lives. It reflects the ongoing evolution in thinking about work-life balance and productivity, suggesting a future where people have more time for personal pursuits, family, and leisure activities. 2. Diverse Opinions: It's beneficial to have diverse perspectives as they encourage a deeper examination of what AI's role in our society should and could be. This dialogue is crucial for navigating the ethical, economic, and social implications of integrating AI into the workforce. 3. Future Possibilities: The discussion prompts thoughts about how we can harness technology for the greater good. This conversation around AI and workweek reduction serves as an exciting glimpse into potential future work environments and raises important questions about how we balance technological advancement with human-centric values. What do you think? How willl you use the time that AI will free up for you? I will talk about this in an upcoming BrandTips®️podcast episode. Is your business running at pace towards a change crisis? A colleague and I were chatting about global learning and development (L&D) trends the other day. We were discussing the implications of a trend LinkedIn highlighted in their 2023 Workplace Learning Report - link in the comments. The report is the result of a survey of thousands of L&D and #HR professionals across the globe, as well as 722 learners. The trend is something that will impact us all, significantly. It’s about the skills we all use in our day to day work. Here it is: Skill sets for jobs have changed by around 25% since 2015. That in itself is cause for alarm. How does a global workplace deal with that level of change? But here’s the clincher: This trend of shifting skill set is expected to DOUBLE over the next three years! That’s right folks, over the next three years LinkedIn (owned by Microsoft - the software the global workplace runs on and the primary entity funding Chat GPT AI) has published that 50% of the skills we depend on to do our work today will change by 2027. If anyone knows what the future holds, it would be them, wouldn’t it? Now that’s a big concept to wrap one's head around isn’t it? But considering what’s happening with AI and the exponential change we are experiencing currently, it’s not hard to believe is it? So 50% of what we do in the workplace is going to fundamentally change in the next three years. Is your business talking about this? Does your long-term strategy even highlight this risk/opportunity? How do you leverage this trend and enable your people to learn what they need to learn to survive the tidal wave of change coming? I’ll give you a hint, the answer is in the question. If you’re not creating a #learningculture today, you’re well on your way to a change crisis.

https://lnkd.in/db5yGDsh 🚀 Navigating the Waves of Change: 2024's Work Landscape 🚀 I keep seeing these 'Future of work' articles and can't help but always giggle a little. A new emerging trend is: the transformation of the traditional workweek. (now say this with the old cheesy 90s deep voice over of action trailers) "Imagine a world... where the once-radical idea of a four-day workweek becomes... the normmm, not the exception". Allegedly, it isn't just about extra leisure time; it's a 'strategic response to the talent crunch, aiming to attract and retain the best by offering unparalleled flexibility'.. But here's another way to look at: while the four-day workweek garners headlines, the real game-changer might be the subtle yet profound shift in employee-manager relationships. A staggering 57% of managers are shouldering the responsibility of resolving team conflicts, so the role of the manager is evolving from task overseer to conflict navigator and culture champion (maybe a result of DEI policies?). So, what does this mean? and why am I even writing anything on it? No reaon, i just read these articles regularly for my master's and they get me thinking about how we latch on to a new 'professional fad' and then gartner starts researching in a biased way. But here are my two cents: for starters, I think the demand for skilled conflict resolution and emotional intelligence in leadership roles might become a required training lesson. The ability to harmonize diverse viewpoints and maintain team cohesion is already becoming a major problem (just look at X and other linkedIn updates), making it a critical skill set for anyone aiming for leadership positions. Let's not forget the statistics backing these insights. With a majority of job candidates ranking the four-day workweek as a top draw (does anyone even want to work anymore??), and over half of managers actively engaged in conflict resolution, the numbers paint a clear picture of this future need. How are you preparing for these shifts? Are you ready to lead with empathy and flexibility? Do you think there is a real place for it? Share your thoughts and strategies below. #FutureOfWork #LeadershipTrends #FourDayWorkweek #ConflictResolution #ProfessionalGrowth #EngageWithUs Äctvli Responsible Consulting Oy.

I’m not convinced companies know what to do with efficiency gains at massive scale. Here’s what usually happens: You implement an automation or process. You free up time, people, and money. You take that $10k savings and add it to something you need like your compute budget or marketing budget. Great. Cool. We’ve seen that before. BUT. With AI, these savings can be EXTREMELY high. Most business leaders I speak to aren’t thinking about the second, third, or fourth-order effects of this efficiency gain. Are you going to 10x productivity? Create 5 new business lines? Take big budget cuts? Move to a four-day work week? Three-day work week? Lay off 90% of your team? Hire 3x more? You need to have a proactive, value-based plan around these savings. ✏️Have a reinvestment or redeployment plan for the money saved. ✏️Have a reallocation plan for time. ✏️Have an org structure plan for people. Because if you don’t, you’ll be in a reactive state, and aaaaall those resources you spent months opening up will be quickly swallowed by low-value, morale-crushing busy work. My recommendation: ✅ Make workers more productive, don’t replace them ✅ Measure success and progress with standard KPIs *and* by added value ✅ Have a plan for mass efficiency, gain alignment on it through your org, and make sure it’s not something you’d be ashamed to have on the front page of the NYT ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ready your business and career for the AI age. Why Reducing Hours Can Lead to Better Talent Outcomes I recently had the pleasure of talking with Vikki Yaffe on the topic of Time. It got me thinking about how the concept of ‘time spent’ is slowly (very slowly) becoming more outdated. With the rise of AI and other fantastic tools, certain tasks within jobs are becoming easier and quicker to carry out. I believe the strong correlation between time and 'productivity' is not as relevant as it used to be. For companies looking for top talent lowering the ‘time’ from full-time to flexible/remote/20 hours a week can offer massive benefits: 🌍 1. Flexibility: It allows for a more adaptable work environment. 💰 2. Cost-Effectiveness: It’s cheaper for businesses, or they can spend the same amount and get an even more qualified person to do the job. This approach opens doors to a diverse range of talent: 🔄 1. Older (experienced talent): Individuals looking to pivot from full-time roles. 🌱 2. Young professionals (emerging talent): Those who want to step back from the traditional 9-5. 📚 3. University students (future talent): Individuals who don’t want to enter the workforce as just another full-time cog in someone else’s machine. Sure, for many jobs, time still equals productivity (labour-intensive, craft businesses, art, etc.) & this approach may not work for every job, but it could be worth considering for many roles... What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments! 💬👇 #TalentManagement #RemoteWork #AI #Innovation #Flexibility
