One of the important rehabilitation services we provide at Platonas is Speech Therapy. Speech Therapy is crucial for patients recovering from neurological diseases such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, or other conditions that affect speech and swallowing. It can improve communication skills, enhance swallowing function, and aid in preventing complications like aspiration pneumonia, which can occur due to swallowing difficulties. The photo showcases a patient undergoing a Speech Therapy session involving the use of an oral motor tool (lollipop). The oral motor tool is utilised to stimulate the muscles of the mouth and tongue, which are essential for articulation and swallowing. Through this exercise, the Speech Therapist can target and strengthen specific muscles, and improve the patient’s oral motor skills, coordination and overall speech clarity. #pmc #hospital #SpeechTherapy #Rehabilitation #NeurologicalRehabilitation #mouththerapy #poststroke

What Causes Dizziness or Nausea with countermanding tasks? The cerebellum plays a crucial role in modulating brainstem activity, effectively suppressing and stabilizing it. When individuals experience dizziness or nausea during complex tasks like countermanding figure eights with arms and legs, it may indicate that their cerebellum is unable to adequately control brainstem signals. This can lead to reflexive activation of the emetic center or vestibular system. To further assess cerebellar function, various tests can be performed, including rapid alternating movements, finger-to-nose accuracy, balance assessments, gait analysis, and vestibular system checks. These observations provide valuable insights into brain function and can help in designing targeted treatment protocols to address specific neurological issues.
