This past week, some members of our production team from The Sentinel Mindset and members from York Regional Police filmed some incredible content to showcase and highlight careers in policing. Filming many ride-along's, or interviews with police officers has been an inspiring experience for us, but we feel they are very necessary. Many have asked why our show focuses so much on providing awareness and education around careers in policing. The answer is simple: for our people, for giving back, and for finding protectors. We are finding that these ride along videos are connecting the police officer as a human being and not just a uniform. It’s the story of the person behind the uniform, the passion to serve and how one can follow in their footsteps. These episodes are bridging a gap between the public and police services and the perception is slowly changing. Our hopes are that more and more people through these videos will buy into careers in policing that they will truly tap into the protector from within. As an organization that specializes in helping our employees achieve their policing goals, it's incredibly rewarding to shape and be part of their development. And with police being the governing protectors of the world, there's a crucial need for qualified protectors to represent their communities by serving and protecting. But we also know that there are many people out there who are protectors and just don't realize it. By highlighting these incredible stories and providing regular content around the world of protection, we hope to motivate and inspire those who may be interested in a rewarding career in policing. Stay tuned for more updates on exciting content with York Regional Police! #serveandprotect #policingcareers #protectors #givingback #awareness

In this model, the police no longer operate in isolation but instead collaborate closely with a diverse network of stakeholders, including local authorities, probation services, health authorities, businesses, and community groups. This collaborative approach aims to leverage expertise, information, and resources from various sectors to address the underlying causes of crime and enhance overall community well-being. One key aspect of this new policing paradigm is the emphasis on partnership and information-sharing. By working collaboratively with other agencies and organizations, the police can better identify and respond to emerging issues, such as mental health crises, substance abuse, and social inequality, that contribute to crime and disorder. This coordinated effort enables a more holistic and proactive approach to crime prevention and public safety. However, it's essential to recognize the broader socio-political context within which this shift is occurring. The emergence of the 'service-led' policing model is shaped by neoliberal discourses that prioritize efficiency, accountability, and market-driven solutions in the provision of public services. In this environment, crime control services, including policing, have become increasingly commodified, with an emphasis on measurable outcomes and cost-effectiveness. Thinking about policing as a form of governance, that is, as a complex, contested and fragile ensemble aimed at shaping forms of conduct among the broader population. Most importantly, as an investigation into the network of power relations, We need to examine the multi-level governance of policing, the interconnected structural and institutional aspects of police organization and practice. #Forcetoservice #communitypolicing #governance #policework #securitymanagement #crimeresearch #threatanalysis Image source Open University
