Our Save Her Seat project in Tanzania is making a life-changing difference to girls across the Serengeti and Tarime districts. Girls often face inequality, prejudice, and harmful and discriminatory practices that stand in the way of their education and development. Thanks to generous donations from the public, LFC Foundation, and funding by the UK government through UK Aid Match, the project is addressing barriers to girls’ education and empowering girls in 40 primary schools to learn, lead and succeed.    More than 8,600 children are participating regularly in play-based sessions that help them to stay in school and develop critical life skills.   In the first year of the project, the number of girls demonstrating adequate life skills has doubled and more girls feel safer at school. More girls also report that their parents or caregivers support their right to an education, with an increase from 40% to 69% in year one. According to the United Nations, a statistic of 80% of girls in Afghanistan are being denied their right to education. The Taliban is responsible for this statistic through deliberate bans and policies. Education should be accessible to all. A society cannot grow and flourish if the majority of a population if a basic human right such as education is being denied. With the International Day of Education being observed last week, we want to put the spotlight on Crisis-Impacted Children in Need of Education Support. None of us can deny the importance of Education, and so it comes as no surprise that it is one of the most important of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG4) laid down by the UN to transform the world. The CEO of Education Cannot Wait rightly asks: "How many more facts and figures, and above all, human suffering do we need before we act with boldness and determination to finance education and invest in humanity?" Strengthening the partnership between SWISS, help alliance and SOS Children's Villages 🌍✈️  SWISS is continuing its long-standing support for SOS Children's Villages International and at the same time intensifying its collaboration with the aid organization, help alliance. SWISS and its passengers have been collecting donations on board for SOS Children's Villages for years. The partnership will now be even closer, to exploit synergies and make our commitment even more effective. From 2025, the support will focus on a joint project to implement three initiatives in Johannesburg and Cape Town that support disadvantaged children and young people in particular:  👭 Schooling for children: parentless or disadvantaged children receive school materials, school uniforms and support for their journey to school.    👩🏫 Vocational training & mentoring: Young people receive support through vocational training, workshops and mentoring - an important help in securing their professional future in a country with high youth unemployment.   🏠 Renovation & infrastructure projects: Renovations and access to solar energy and clean drinking water ensure safe and healthy living conditions in SOS Children's Villages. 𝗔 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼-𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿, 𝗠𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝘄𝗲!!! According to UNICEF Nigeria, one in every 5 of the world's out-of-school children is in Nigeria. About 10.5 million children are not in school even though primary education is free. One of the factors that contribute to the incidence of out-of-school children is low family socio-economic status. As a result of this, the Pamirian Foundation launched a back-to-school project for the next academic year starting in September to send 20 out-of-school orphans in 2 rural communities in Nigeria back to school. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻? Tackling poverty: Education equips children with the knowledge and skills they need to break the cycle of poverty. 🚨 November Highlight 🚨 🚨 In November 2024, Phoenix Space, Terous Misr Foundation for Development, and VIGSA (Volunteer Initiative for Gaza Students Abroad) partnered to launch the Leap Higher Scholarship Fund- an emergency initiative to support displaced youth from Gaza to continue their education. 🚨 This initiative provides urgent guidance and financial aid to displaced students who have completed high school and sought refuge in Egypt. The support aims to help them begin or continue their university education at Egyptian universities by covering tuition fees that they can no longer afford due to the impacts of conflict and displacement. 🚨IMPACT TO DATE🚨 Scholarships have been awarded to 27 displaced Gazan youth. Among them are students whose families have managed to reach safety, while others remain separated or have experienced devastating losses. We may not have the power to stop this conflict, but we do have the power to take action. Together, we can offer hope, provide support, and make a tangible difference in the lives of those who have lost everything.
