"We don't want them to relive their trauma, so multiple interviews, multiple exams, we don't do that. We want to be able to do all of that one time in one spot." 🕊️ Read more from Childhelp Forensic interview specialist, Jennifer Ingalls about dealing with cases here: https://bit.ly/3xBWS7g

It’s National Forensic Interview Week! For those who don’t know, a Forensic Interviewer talks with children about the abuse they've experienced in an age-appropriate, developmentally sensitive, and non-confrontational way. The conversation is led by the child but guided by the interviewer. Interviews are viewed live by a team in the Observation Room, who can ask questions and clarify details. This process maximizes the information a child can provide while minimizing how many times they have to discuss the abuse. Interviews are recorded for court or further investigation. Our gratitude is immeasurable for these four 💙 From left to right: Challye Nunn, Hannah Bush, Celina Sikes, and Ashley Anderle. Help us recognize what they do by commenting your appreciation below!

Great explanation of the importance of ground rules given by Bruce Pitt-Payne QTiPP, CPII, LPI, RCMP retired (Sgt) on this short video. If such a process is new to you don’t be afraid of having a written prompt to help you and as Bruce suggests make them part of a conversation (keep any written notes you do make though for potential disclosure). Remember it’s not your interview, it’s not your information you are merely a facilitator. They are not just the reserve of the criminal investigation process - they are just as important in a civil or workplace investigation. They work so why not give them a go.
